Sup guys. Just wanted to share what I discovered today. I found a DIY carbon filter in the DIY threads and made it. I dont know if I did it wrong or what but after $50 and some work it helped but only slightly.

I then looked around the net a little more after friends coming over today and them saying the house smelled like weed. I freaked out and knew I had to do something. So I found this idea and it works really well.

I sort of used what I found but did it a little different.

I got a 5 gallon bucket and filled it with 3-4 inches of water. I then added a little fabuloso (lol its like mexican pinesol). I think I put too much so Im not sure how much to add but experiment some with just a little. I then added a 200 gph water pump i was going to use for aero but went another direction. I had to turn it down bc it was shooting water out of the bucket at 1st. I got it to shoot about 8 inches high and it seems to be ok besides some extra foam from adding too much fabuloso.

Anyhow this works so great and Im so happy right now. Having people over this weekend and I was freaking out. My girl came over and she agreed no more weed smell.

Try it.

i just have a few ?'s... sounds like a good idea.. what is the pump doing for you? i understand that its in the bucket, but where is the water/ fabuluso mix going after it gets pumped? this is where i get lost honestly.. is the pump just kinda stirring up the mixture?? i am not sure of how this works, and as i am sure my grow is about to start stinking, a little clarification would be appreciated..
very kool idea, i just need a little more details if you don't mind..
thanks in advance and nice idea...

Yeah man youve got the idea. Its shooting the water up and agitating it at the same time. The water just falls back into the bucket. I guess that lets the smell into the air? I just read about it online, dont remember what site and tried it. This cost me nothing, as I already had all this stuff and my room smells great too. My girl is going to be really happy when she gets out of class.

Does that answer your question? Let me know if I can explain any better.

yeah, that clears it up for me... i just wasn't sure of what and where the pump was shooting the water too.. i kinda thought that it was just shooting it either into the bucket again.... but wasn't exactly sure..
thanks for the clarification.. sounds like something worth checking out... thanks for the tip..

Yeah try it out, woke up today and still only smell clean, fresh mexican pinesol.

Heres a few quick pics I took. You can see the pump shooting the mix up into the air.

That's a good idea, roseman had something similiar.
Put some holes in a bucket like you said, add some water, but this is where it gets different.
Instead of masking the smell he used an odor neutralizer which actually removes the smell and doesn't just mask it.
He then put a circular fan on top of the bucket and it works as a humidifier and a deodorizer.

I haven't tried it but he said it works bomb

Yeah Ive seen his threads. I actually dont have any holes in the bucket though and use cheap Fabuloso. I didnt buy a fan, just have the mix spraying up into the air like a geyser. Works really well and is even more simple than Rosemans. His probably works better though since he uses ONA but this is cheaper.

I bought a cheap carbon scrubber and am disappointed with how it works (not very well). Evidently the effectiveness of carbon filters is reduced by humidity. It helps but I still have the distinct odor in my grow area. I thought it would all but wipe out the smell but it didn't. I may be using something like this because I simply have tried all kinds of cover ups to no avail. Good idea bro!

....looks like you have to use the fabuluso pretty sparingly, or i could see a brady bunch episode with foam all over your grow area, lol..
..... do us a fav and let us know how long it takes till you have to add some new fab to keep the smell fresh... it would be kool of you to do so, thanks.

people do the same thing with ona.. only thing is it just masks the smell.. if you have slight odor this method works great.. when you are at the end of flowering, it will smell like skunk mixed with whatever scent you have going. unless you are on the last week or two of flowering already and it is working.

Sometimes my dad just put's pinesole in a cup and sets it on the counter. It reaks the whole house just sitting in a cup. So I can see where this works, it dosen't remove the smell but it covers it pretty damn good.
