Odor question

Heyy everyone, I'm rather new here and I've seen questions related to this one but I've never found a good answer.

Instead of looking for "low odor" strains, I wanted to know strains that just don't smell like weed. Like, if the shit makes my whole house smell like oranges or blueberries or some shit, that's fine with me... but are there any strains that just don't smell like weed?

Thanks!

Ive done the blueberry that smells very potent like blueberry but, Im guessing that the ones that smell different like BB will also have that familiar smell...... Just speaking from the ones I grew,, they have a very sweet smell with that very potent hit of great weed... I will follow this thread to see what people think,,, cause Im with ya,, I would like to find a good strain that smells different....... I cant control the smell (however good) in my house either....... peace:peace:

I believe that you're only gonna find strains that smell LESS like pot, not strains that smell different.
It all depends on your situation, but during my first grow, smell just really never became an issue. You could smell something "earthy", but nothing identifiable. Oh I spent alot of time worried to death that I was gonna wake up one day and be able to smell it in Tennessee. (I live in Georgia) That never happened.
Now if there are people in the house that aint down with you growing, thats different. It's only the wife and I, and we rarely entertain.
The only time odor became an issue was at harvest. Then it became a REAL problem for a day or 2.

Thanks everyone for responding.

I think thelastpirate kind of has what I was looking for in a way, rather when he said something "earthy" that was not identifiable. I guess as long as it's not like "hey that's weed" then I'm good with it.. as I burn a lot of incense and my room has a smoky smell to it anyways, so I think as long as it is not very potent I can manage it.

I've also looked into a few products:

* Odor eliminating CFL's (home depot has these for like $13)
* DampRid Odor Genie (gel shit, removes smell and replaces it with a berryish one)
* Kenmore Ductfree Charcoal Filter (sears has these for like $9)
* Gonzo Odor Eliminator? (volcano stuff guess it gets rid of odor and charges with UV radiation.. I think home depot has it for around $7-8)

I was looking into growing Joey Weed Cinderella 99 F2, as I've heard the odor is very manageable.

Glad I could help, but be aware that the info was concerning the 2 grows I have under my belt, and the same strain. I hear alot about others having real odor problems. Mine didn't reek. With the growroom door open, you could smell that "earthy" smell in the rest of the house. Close the door, and you'd smell nothing. I keep it open to help control temps.
If yoyu are worried, get proactive and get a carbon filter. You'd much rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it!!!

The Damp Rid works OK to "mask" odors. But I read in another thread (a different forum maybe) about a dude who made a fairly concentrated (25%) mix of Pine Sol and water. He filled a 5 gal bucket about 3/4 full, and dropped an air stone in it. Pine Sol comes in different fragrances, Orange (citrus) and Ocean Breeze. That will mask just about anything.

the only really good methods of odor control are carbon scrubbing and Ozone generation. Use a combination of the 2 and there should b no smell. ONA (Odor Neutralizing Agent) also works, but you have to be diligent and spray it all over the house 2-3 times per day.

Anything else is pretty much just a cover up smell. Anyone who knows what weed smells like can usually tell theres the smell of weed being covered up with another smell as soon as they enter your home.

Which in some cases is OK because the house has a general aroma of pot smoke. (Case in point, My house. We smoke and do nothing to mask it) As long as it doesn't scream "Grow Op" it's all good.

get an ozone generator kills any smell. ive even used it to take the mildew smell out of old towels the shit really works. if u get one dont put it in the air evaporator it will oxidize the radiator and cost u a new one . i went thru 2 before i figured that one out.oops. i got mine on ebay for around 400$

No, but I've been reading a bit on it. As I have read quite a few posts about people who used gel shit to eliminate odor, and it makes sense, if the odor can be oxidized then there won't be an issue.

On the other hand, I did pick up odor genie today (essentially the gel goes into the air to eliminate odor - I did go to walmart after, and found that the SAME EXACT thing with a different name was $2 cheaper).

Okay, for another idea... they make Charcoal Filters for a rangehood, and they are much cheaper than a carbon scrubber. Here is an example Kenmore Ductfree Charcoal Filter - Model 50190 at Sears.com

So essentially you should be able to put one of these in front of your fans to pull air that is essentially "carbon filtered" out.

Tell me what you think!

I just made me one yesterday and i'm telling you that shit got my whole house smelling like pinesol. There also easy to make. Cost me about $20 and 30 minutes to make.

I can't complain about that one then. I'm still open for other ideas, I'd like to get a compilation here.

I have found some new easy carbon filters!
