OH... So is this how to clone?

I've always taken my clones from the lower portion of the plant because the lower shoots are more tender and soft, and they contain higher levels of auxins and hormones. They get dipped into Clonex Gel then go right into pre-soaked rockwool cubes. My new cuttings are placed under 24/0 of florescent lights for 10 days in a dome-covered tray. I have a 99% success rate using this method.

word...I take mine from the bottom as well because like ROLLA8 said the stem is much softer and more prone to grow roots. If you time it right, you can take 4 clones from the bottom section of the plant, they wouldn't produce a whole lot of bud anyway so you might as well put them to good use. I usually cut the branch, submerge it in a saucer of B1, make a 45 degree cut in the stem, and throw it in the medium of your choice. I recently had success cloning by putting the cutting in a full glass of PH'd water and put a plastic sandwich bag over it. Leave it for a week or two and you should see roots. I experimented with this technique with a Salvia plant I grew for fun last year. I actually used a shot glass and left them on my window sill. But it's winter so now they go in the corner of my grow room. GL!
