Hello everyone, hope things are well with you all. Ok so here it is... what light is best for my grow? I have taken about 4 clones from my strawberry blue plant. They should be rooted any day now. I will be growing in 2 gallon plastic pots with coco coir. I will be using GH 3 part nutes. I plan on vegging for about 2 weeks then going to flower. I will be growing inside a 32x32x63 tent. I will have a 4 inch fan with a 14 inch filter. So here are my choices I can get a 600 watt LED for about 139.00 I have never used LED but people say they are good because of low heat. I can also get a 400 watt mh/hps light with a wing reflector. Sounds great but would my 4 inch fan/filter be able to keep the heat issues down?

150w Hps bulbs can even be a bitch with heat, much more a 400w. With a 4 inch fan? No fkkn way. Unless your using a whole entire room that has central heat and air. Then just keep your AC low and keep the fans blowing on the bulbs. They do make HPS setups that have the glass in between so the hot air can be sucked right out. This is more logical for getting rid of heat problems, but lowers the intensity of the lights that hit the plants leaves a lil because of the glass. They can get a lot closer to the plant this way tho, so its a good idea.

I heard the technology with led's and growing has come a long way. They should put off little to no heat and have models that are very bright. Also heard they are stupid exspensive. What is the lumen output of this LED lamp?

LED is the way to go for a small grow. I do a couple plants at a time, and temps are no longer an issue. I have to actually add heat in the winter months. I flower 2-3 plants (5 gallon) with about 1000 watts of LED.

Thank you for the reply. So I could grow and flower 2 plants with that LED I posted? How long should I veg for?

Sunlight. Of course!

Failing that, you have lots of options. LED is spendy and while COB tech is coming along nicely, you'll find this a good option only if your power costs are very high.

HPS is basic, but tried, true and cheap. Nuff said, because that's where its advantages end.

MH is a junk tech. Yep, I said it, never buy metal halide again. If you like this spectrum, look at 315W LEC lighting instead; far better results and better efficiency to boot.

T5 is cheap, widely available and about as efficient as HPS. You can tailor the spectrum by buying different color temperatures and many people have greet success on smaller scales with them. They don't do big crops.

From there, shit gets exotic and expensive pretty fast.
