ok, how could I go wrong with a hair straighener?

I just tried to make some rosin/resin with a hair straightener. (I know it's hot enough). I held it very tightly for 20, then 25 seconds........ and only got FLAT weed! NO rosin whatsoever. WHAT am I doing wrong...and, what could I do wrong? It's so easy. The straightener doesn't have temperature settings, but when I've straightened my hair it really works, and also the parchment paper was smoking! So, heat isn't the problem. I also tried two different strains ...one from last year, and one from this year.

I watched several videos on YouTube and didn't do anything different. HELP!

SO, any suggestions?

Hmm, stand on it? I can try it & see if I don't break the straightener. I don't see how it could be too hot...... Wouldn't it still leave some resin?

I had exactly same results
Took a night of my granddaddy purpose
2 grams followed instructions
Ended up with a diamond of crispy flat bud that smelled kinda like canna butter.
I gave up figures my herb wasn't rosiney enough

If your buds rh% is off, that could be the problem. Also some stains just don't squish well. 501st og returned jack squat for me.

wrap the buds up more,fold in half ,then again and again.keeps the heat in.standing on it also helps.

dude look it up in youtube.

dudes press on it with all their weight. straighteners break after a few months and they have to buy new ones....

the branded rosin presses use leverage to generate close to 200lbs of force....

WRONG - the rosin tech go, the smallest press in their catalog, delivers 700lbs of squash.....

@The Dawg, did the clamp work?
Also, how large (size) is the press? and how much does it cost?.... It'll be worth it to me to pay for good rosin since I use it every night, but up to a point :p.
Also, @redivider, I checked Youtube first. They're just using a straightening iron on a lot of them, and I didn't see anyone standing on one. But, they're stronger than I am, so I stood on mine. Only one strain was sticky enough to yield any rosin, and it wasn't enough to make it worthwhile. Tomorrow, I'll just make some with ISO, and reduce it to rosin. It looked pretty easy on Youtube. I've been watching a lot of that lately!

I've got a little press i made with a 2 ton bottle jack and 2x2 plates that i used before i got this new one. I used bottle tech for that, I'm just not finding any bag sizes that seem right for 2.5x6 plates. I guess i could use small bag and do 2 bottle tech style at the same time.

To Be Honest This Strain Is Only Giving Up 2%. So I'm Not Wasting Any Bags On It :weed:
