Old seed hassle with supplier...

Hiya
I bought a pack of Dutch Passion Polar Lights#3. They came in an old style paper envelope, and none of them popped.
I contacted the supplier and said look I can see from the packaging these are old seeds.
I did a bit of research and found that DP started using metal tins for packaging in Nov 2016, which means anything in paper envelope pack is at least 2.5 years old, this is a fact.
The guy from the shop insists no, they are not old seeds, which is clearly bullshit.
Considering they are old, and I had 3 not germinate, I said I would pay 50% of the asking price (€55) for a 7 pack, and it doesn't look like he's gonna accept that.
I don't know why but I really want to try this strain. It is discontinued and this place is the only place I can find it.
Any thoughts? Does 2.5 years constitute "old" seeds and do I have grounds for a refund?
Cheers!

In regard to seeds germinating or not, most vendors dont give any sort of guarantee, so its a tough one, I would however say that when the info you have from Dutch Passion the guy you bought them from should give you some sort of new deal, so you can get some beans growing.

For years now since I heard it from a gardener friend, I keep my seeds in the fridge and with good results, 5-8 year old beans have germinated...

Tell him you're going to do a review in the Seed Bank thread at RIU and thousands will read it and never order seeds from him.

Tell him to make it right and you'll do a positive review.

Decent enough of you to offer to pay half for replacements so he shouldn't be such a prick.

Good luck!

Thanks, yeah just left a crappy review on Google. Customer care sucks here, its a fucking joke. I contacted DP to find out about this strain, they have been absolutely fantastic and they are sending me replacements, sadly not the strain i want cos its discontinued but still, very impressive. Bravo DP!!

Well after I posted my 1 star review they changed their mind. Received a 7 pack plus a lighter and papers at no cost. But honestly what a struggle. The guy I was dealing with needs to smoke a bit less I think. I kept saying, my seeds came in the old packaging; DP stopped using that Nov 16; therefore the seeds cannot be new. He seemed to think I was complaining that the seeds weren't in a metal tin. Very stoned, or very stupid - possibly both.
But with the seeds from DP I've done ok out of it. All's well that ends well :)

I'm confused which is common but you said none of them popped and then you say 3 did not germinate. ?
