Old soil

What did you use as fertilizer? ProMix is peat based, so adding some compost to it pretty much turns it into peat based soil.
I have compost that I can add to it, volunteer with the local community garden .. I do all the heavy lifting for the elders.

Used GH nutrients so never added anything else

How do you like the promix? What do you mix with it?

My soil I place in my garden for the following year if it winter. Plus the amend and conditioners I use make a great blend for the worms and my summer garden.

What microbes do you like using if any? I've used Xtreme Gardens Tea Brewz, Real Growers Recharge, Mammoth P (EXPENSIVE) and have most recently considered trying TRIBUS.
Just some Great White in the hole when I transplant. And whatever is in the compost or ewc (I used bagged stuff for indoor plants; we have an outdoor compost pile but I'm paranoid about bringing the outside stuff in).

The compost will help. I don't use chemicals with mine though. If I was gonna use GH, I'd use coco. I actually have a bag of coco and the GH nutes that I was gonna experiment with some day though.

Just because with salts you want runoff and with organics you don't. And super high NPK levels can hurt the microbes.

I like it! Seems good for starting out. Used promix and GH 2 part. Switching to a 3 part and then trying organic soil when I'm out of promix. Like to try different things.. overall I found the promix decent though, good water flow. A lot of perlite though so need to top it up after a couple of waterings

Wanted coco but sadly the grow shop only had FF or promix. Definitely a better option if going with chemicals. Didn't know high NPK does that!!! Thanks for the info, definitely helps

ProMix is great I've heard for salts. Some people use it with chemicals and some use organics. It's pretty versatile.

I just mixed nutrients in a 5gal bucket and fed that way. I wouldn't use promix if you're going to add dry mix. There is better options and better people to advise you on that . Gotta call a spade, a spade

So I've seen!! When I go organic I'm going to make my own soil. Promix has a great base, just expensive compared to what it is. Not complaing though, I've got 4 bags waiting to be used hahahah

Thanks for your response, I noticed some good results from Great White rolling root balls in it in the past. Just seems to not go very far with my bear paws handling it.

I'm looking to try Tribus maybe later on I can post some feedback on it. I want to start doing side by sides just hard to squeeze into my schedule.
