OLD Tea brew bucket found, stinks to high heaven, safe to use???

Hey all . . .

Ok so I moved home about 6 or 7 months back. My previous set up came with me.
Been rumagin' around thinking of a yard sale to free up some space for another tent.

I found my Tea brewing bucket, it was quite heavy. Feint recollections of the last brew only half being used . . . . getting the picture . . . .stupidly I opened the lid, it was like an electrical shock to the nose, mmmmmmman what a stink, but not a death wreek, but a living wreek, if that makes sense. I snapped it shut.

So my question is, is it safe to use? Knowing that the ingredients used to make the tea 7 months ago, where sterile and healthy, it's been sealed from any outdoor pathogens etc. do you think I could have, accidentally, made a mental anaerobic brew?

I think I'll take it into the yard and pour a little on an area of lawn, see what happens. but then grass' reaction to it may differ from Cannabis' reaction. I do have some young cuttings, I could sacrifice one in the name of advancements :)

Does anyone have any knowledge or experience with anaerobic colonies? Could the biology progress in the bucket to the next stage of protozoa or even nematodes? Do anaerobic protozoa / nematodes exist?? Are totally anaerobic teas safe to give CS L.?

Look forward to your thoughts people . . . . .

Bad idea...over time, the good were reconquered by the bad...
Rule with tea is its always to smell earthy or mushoomy like a bag of black dirt, and its good for a week,2 tops IF you refrigerate.. Stink or decay smell is a flag for dumping .

I'm just beginning to scratch the surface learning about anerobic beneficials. I used to believe that anerobic=bad but now I know that's not always the case. You may have made a rudimentary fermented plant extract by leaving it to sit that long.

I have a mason jar full of kelp/alfalfa soaked in water that I made weeks ago. It stinks pretty bad and I just used some this morning. I'll report back if there's any disastrous effects. ;)

Ok, two great bit's of info . . . . . thank you . . . . .

I'm very interest in your anaerobic findings @MjMama . . .. . . . I have heard here and there if your source of ingredients don't contain anything unknown / harmful (i.e. soil from the ground), then a safe anaerobic colony can exist, long time ago mind!

not sure if it's the same, but I've "re-aerated" my dandelion/comfrey fermented plant tea...
add a tablespoon of molasses and bubbled for 20-2\30 hrs, and it smelled like a normal AACT after that.
Didn't hurt any of my plants either.
BUT, I suppose a lot of it would depend on whats in the tea.
really though, is it worth it?
A tea brew costs what? maybe 50 cents in ingredients?
MOre for electricity than ingredients i'd guess.

Totally agree Holmes . . . . I'm just wondering what sort of evolution, if any, has taken place in the bucket over these months. Good quality ingredients went into the Tea, all sourced from origins that allow me to know nothing bad was in there (I didn't use mud, nor compost, actually; it was infact Mayan Microzyme / Mollasses / Kelp / Humic n Fulvics / Beer Hops / Alfalfa Hay . . . .that's it.)

I'm aware that something could of been picked up from the environment . . . .but I just wonder what's in there . . . .wish I had a powerful microscope . . . . .

Thanks for your comments, I do appreciate them.

Here check this out, an interesting table about the soil food web . . . .

hmm, with all that, i'd be more afraid that it could have fermented into something that'd be high in alcohol or a hydrocarbon, of which would be baaaad for your grow.
BUUT that being said, I bet If you bubbled it for a day or two it'd be ok, but personally I wouldn't risk it, since a tea is relatively cheap to make.

For sure, don't get me wrong I'm not trying to save a few bucks, I've got a fresh brew on the go now; I'm just intrigued as anaerobic organisms are the prolific decomposers in our soil web . . . . .

I'M GONNA TREAT ONE YOUNG CUTTING WITH IT, I'VE JUST THIS SECOND DECIDED IT! Afraid to open the bucket agian . . . . .lol

I'll keep you posted!!

heh, niiice man!
I've killed a couple plants in my day from experiments!
(don't water your plants with hydrogen peroxide!, the extra oxygen molecule ISNT harmless)

Anyone seen that movie about a lake infected by a nuclear power plant; the natural microscopic nematodes grow to massive sizes and start eating people, sliding under skin n stuff . . . . turning everyone insane when they get to the brain . . . eeeeugh . . .sh1t film, but it's in my head right now . . . .lol

I'M SHITTING MYSELF . . . . lmao . . . .

So back again . . . . . found a victi . . . .errrrr Guineapig Cutting for my ancient anaerobic tea test . . . . .

Here she is: TGA Subcool - Chernobyl, I think, lol, I'm not too organised with my cuttings, harvests surprise me all too often!

Ooooooo yr gonna get it . . . . . . question is, after I've checked PH and EC, shall I feed it raw or water it down some??

Incase you're interested, here's my current brew, at 4.5 hours :)

merrrrr crappy pic!!

Back soon, just gonna go borrow a hazmat suit . . . .. lmfao :)

Sorry for delay, my only camera is on my phone (with location services switched off)

It's currently uploading a video to mediafire, so I can't film the opening of the DOOM BUCKET, and possibly the murder of a young female just yet lol . . . . .
