I regularly had good flower hanging in my drying/curing room for well over 3-5 months post harvest. I kept the humidity between 62-65%, temps usually around 64f, but sometimes would be in the low 70s when the a/c wouldn’t keep up (portable a/c units are garbage, lesson learned).
I’d try to get it trimmed and turkey bagged or jarred around 5 weeks of drying, but sometimes I just didn’t get to some stuff and it would just sit for months in there. Slight browning, and the brightness of the flavor generally dulls around 4 months if I didn’t bag it. No noticeable loss of potency and the texture of the flower is almost always perfect, not too dry.
jarred some Crockett’s Haze tops Dec 2020 and left them in that room, dark, cool, and RH stable. When I pull the lid off, there is a sticky resin around the lip, not sure what it is. Best guess is terpinolene since another terpinolene dominant flower shares a lot of the same oily residue. The flavor is so smooth and the high is as strong or stronger, if just a tad heavier feeling. The oily almost wet feeling of the flower is pretty unique to a few cultivars I’ve run, but you’d think it was harvested 3 weeks ago based on that alone.
I don’t get into that jar much, but it’s a unique treat every time. I rarely have anything fresher than 5-6 months post harvest, and more so 10+ months cure for most of my stash. I think it’s so important and almost never practiced, to let the product get stable before bagging or jarring. No silly “burping” routines other than when it’s “evaluation” time. and I’ve never had any mold or issues.
my experience anyway. Older/well-cured herb can be fantastic. I’ll report back in 10 years and compare the results
