Anybody have a Omega Garden?
This is the strangest garden apparatus I've ever seen. Are any of you familiar with the Omega Garden, a cylindrical growing tube which rotates around a central light? The plants' roots are dipped once per each rotation into water/nutrients. It's pretty odd, but it looks like it saves space! OmegaGarden.com - Omega Gardens™: Industry Leading Hydroponics Designs for Indoor Gardening

Plants are predominantly affected by gravity. Growing in the opposite direction and maintaining verticality, so as to draw water up, away from gravity. Therefore the Omega Garden cylinder needs to be in constant motion. One revolution an hour, twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. If the garden stops turning for any length of time, the plants on their sides, or inverted, will turn and grow towards the sky, regardless of where the light source is. Light sources adjacent, or even below will have no effect on this phenomenon.

The result of the constant rotation is compaction, with unusually strong growth in all directions. We call this phenomenon “ORBITROPISM”. For example, basil with stalks more like bamboo than basil. Tomatoes and peppers standing straight up without hanging or sagging, and holding firm throughout their rotation. Seeming to defy gravity

I can only imagine what some sweet sweet MJ would look like, and the yeilds that could be had out of this thing.

If any of my fellow growers have any input please fill me in.

I doubt it would work well with mary jane. In my experience (which is limited), the distance from the lights needs to be adjustable. Plus, I don't know there is enough room between the light and the plants to produce enough growth. For that price, I would invest in several aerogardens to have a constant rotation. I say aerogarden because of its simplicity. If a first time grower, like myself, could successfully grow an unknown strain and harvest killer s**t, its must be pretty fool-proof. If I had that much money to invest, I would probably go with a professional set-up from a hydroponic dealer. The AG just doesn't need the expensive nutrients, PH, PPM, and all that stuff. With my AG, I just kept adding water when needed and an AG nutrient tablet every couple of weeks. The aerogarden is the best breakthrough for personal smokers. With the LR2 strand, you could likely harvest 2 to 2 1/2 oz. every 8-9 weeks with just two small plants per machine. If you decide to try the Omega Garden, I'm interested in hearing the results. If you are interested in the Aerogarden, you can visit their website (google search it) to purchase it for under $200 or pick one up at Macy's (available at some stores and online), visit your local hydroponic systems dealer, or look for it on ebay. It's the cheapest and most reliable method I've ever known. Over the years, I have tried to grow inside and out several times over with no success until I bought the aerogarden. With the AG, I was even able to grow while traveling a week at a time, just taking care of it on the weekends. It's like being on autopilot. Good fortune with whatever method you choose.

Well with the OG the light is air cooled and the plants can grow right to the light. They are best suited for clones with very short veg times once rooted. They produce awesome results for the space they consume, and the energy they consume. Think about it like this, looking at it from one of the ends you will see threw the cylinder right. Now cut one line down the cylinder and open it up flat so to speak. (Are you still with me fellas) Now think to yourself can 1 1000w HPS cover that much space NO WAY. There is better systems for the money and you can build your own for half the price. But for the space they use they are pretty darn good. I seen some where they can be stacked on one another as well, not sure how that works though.

EDIT: As for the AG it is a decent little thing and it does work with ease, but better results should be sought out IMHO. I smoke 2.5 oz in about two weeks, so for the next 6-7 weeks I am buying more bud. That defeats the purpose of growing I would have to say lol. Aside from the size and yield it is a pretty decent machine, that can be effective if multiple unit were used. Get like 4 of them and you could get some good return on some good phunk nugget.

think of it like you are just growing branches instead of a tree then think of it as you are just growing bud instead of all that crap you have to through away. there is not need for an adjustable lamp if you just want to grow bud

i would have posted some pics for ya but this attachment interface is giving me grief
