Nat.. throw some mycos and molasses in that tea. Got that tip from maxthc. Shit works...
I build a bubble cloner for under 35 dollars. I get 99% success. I can share the info if u want.. lmk... on those mycos holy fuck thats almost triple what i pay. Can i suggest Amazon.Question for all of you master cloners out there,
how long do you baby them with humidity, if I recall
clones gather water through their leaves till they
get enough roots so they need the humidity, but for
how long? How many roots are enough, not gonna
pull a bmeat and rip my clone out to see if it rooted
but just looking for a general idea, cloning is still
relatively new ground for me so any help is
appreciated. Hope ya like what you see, and as
always keep it green!
No matter how good a soil you use always garden lime it well.Allot of times the water you use will fluctuate PH depending on your water quality The garden lime will put a stop to that.WOW lot of info to take in lol. Appreciate it though, have a heat mat and used it at the beginning. I have a probe too but the rooters I use are a lil small to take the probe in (if i read the directions right it reads media temp not enviro temp?) so did not use it this time, thinking rock wool next time too so will have some room to try it. 75-78 is about where I keep them at right now with 75% humidity. Gonna give them and the seedlings a dose of Fox Farm Big bloom (not sure if you are familiar with it but my fav FF product), it is organic and has really low NPK so not a high risk for burn. Did not know a strict 6 PH is wat you want although my water is only usually a point or two off that.
As for the soil concerns, my super soil I am incorporating now has a good amount of granular azomite in it as well as lime (subcool's recipe), surprised you did not drop epsom salts while on that roll lol. I do not mix stuff in with the Ocean forest or Light warrior except for some myco, sure it could not hurt I just never have done it.
The CO2 boost bucket I bought a month ago will be going in the clone closet til it is dead, not sure exact exp I just get rid of them after 3 months and the plants do not seem to mind.
Thanks again max, your post def has me thinking of my future cloning environment....
You must spread some ReputationYou can purchase over sized 5 gallon buckets someplace that will take up the same floor area as the 5 gallon buckets but hold 7..dont ask me where to get them though but i know pool companys chlorine frequently comes in 7 gallon buckets..same as the five..just taller and should be cheap if you find them.Did you add dolomite/garden lime to the soil?It must be done..always..another item you can add to your soil..and should add to your soil is azomite. With azomite in your soil you will never have a deff of any kind due to micros and minerals..NEVER.With the garden lime in the soil you will never have to worry about a PH problem that is causing lock out of any of your other nutes.Yea it can happen fast too..With the garden lime you will NEVER have to worry about a PH problem. When something has a deff then you will KNOW that is not caused by lack of micro nutes or PH..then it makes the list of things that could be going on much shorter..fast and easy to find and correct. When i grew i dirt i would veg to large bush's with a 5 gallon of reinforced soil then transfer them to 10 gallon pots in super soil..On casters so they could be wheeled around easy.
Cloning..Its more important to know what makes a clone throw roots more so than the method used..No one seems to ever explain how a clone throws roots..they tell you how to do it,but never say why it throws root.
The first thing it needs a stable temp at around 75 F.,The second thing it needs is a soft light on them..SOFT light to harsh and they will burn up dry out and die.The third thing they need to stay alive while they throw roots is a high humidity level around the cutting in order to keep it alive until it throws roots.Humidity dome.If you are using a bubble or aero cloner what makes the plants throw roots is the air in the water..So plenty of air stones..Ph water to around 6.No matter how you clone PH 6.
If you are cloning in rock wool cubes or root riot cubes it is important to Not let them sit in direct water there are several propagation tray inserts that will hold your cloning media out of the direct water.
When using cloning media(root riots rock wool ect. Think moist not wet.You put your clones in media into the propagation tray on their stand holding them out of the water, some water in the propagation tray a heat mat under the propagation tray .I use a heat control for the heat mat with a temp probe run under the dome and stuck into the water set at 75 F..this temp is important. It keeps the humidity up in the dome this way..That is all its for the heat mat..it keeps humidity in the dome and the temp correct..If it gets to cold they will not root.if its too hot they wont root.
NOW the cloning media like the root riots or rock wool MUST be allowed to dry some..this gets rid of the old water and makes the roots jump from the stem in search of water..If too wet..they will not jump from the stem.if too dry they will die..WATCH FOR THE TOP OF THE MEDIA If you are using root riots they will turn a lighter brown AT that point spray them with a LITTLE bit of water..Same with the rock wool cubes..they will turn whitish on top ONLY then spray them with a little PHed balanced water.
AS SOON as the roots show outside the media..OR if you are using a bubble cloner about a inch long roots, time to get them into some light dirt. They while cloning only have the energy that is in the cutting to keep it alive. So it is important to take healthy cuttings. They will be a little weak even though they have roots and need a light dose of nutes and soft light to get them going again.Dont take them straight away to a low humidity area or a area with higher heat...it can and will kill them. At least till they have some legs under them and some health back.
This stage is often called PRE vegging. Before they go under the HID for veg.
Remember even if you clone in a aero cloner or bubble cloner it needs a high humidity level on the upper of the plant.
So this is what we need
Aero or bubble:We need AIR PUMP AND STONES CONTAINER ,HUMIDITY,SOFT LIGHT,75 F TEMP(CONTROLLED)ph6,spray bottle
media cloning:we need MEDIA,HEAT MAT,TEMP CONTROLLER,PROP TRAY STAND AND DOME,75F,ph6 water ,spray bottle soft light ,(15 watt CFL works well suspended about a ft and half over cloner).
It took me forever to learn to clone well..It would be best if you have a separate cloning and pre veg area.I like a cloning box that is used for a tray in small pots also for pre veg.2.5 Wide 4 ft long and 3 ft high. One 4ft 55 watt T 5 suspended over 4 trays 1.5 ft off of domes,4 station heat mat controlled by one temp probe..Most of the area is used for pre veg though.I just use trays and domes over the little ones that are rooted put them in some light food and let em sit under the soft light developing legs..sometimes i start taking the domes off of them to let them get used to a little less humidity and get some fresh air.Keep everything clean and STERILE.especially when first starting a batch of clones.HOT water and H2O2.
Good luck..hopes this helps answer some questions.
