OMG I'm glad that turned out ok.This "morning" (I work second shift and get up around 11am) I'm going through the morning ritual of taking a dump , having my coffee , and checking the news and weather . All is well in my uncomplicated world . Thursday and Friday are my days off , gonna do some shopping and take the chachi dog to the park .
I'm in the bathroom and the little dude starts going off big time , not the normal "the mail is here" barking . He's going OFF . I get up , I'm in my underwear and a t shirt , wrap a towel around my fat ass and go look out the door . Oh joy ! 3 local cops checking out my SUV ...
I figure someone busted out a window and open the door . Nope ! They inform me that my truck was involved in a "suspicious incident" the next town south of me late last night , and that the cops in that town want to talk to me . Huh ? I got home at 6:30 pm and never left the friggin house . Luckily they left after being assured I'd call and talk to neighboring po po .
Call them immediately and get stonewalled , only "you need to come talk to us" . Told them I'm on my way . Get sat down with officer and he starts reading me my rights . Won't tell me anything until I sign that I'm aware of my rights , yeah yeah I understand , I sign and he tells me I'm a suspect in a theft from a truck parked at a Best Western at 12:30 am . WTF ?
I'm still pretty sure there's a stupid mix up so I told him where I was all day and night yesterday . He shook his head and whips out a grainy photo that still clearly shows an R51 Nissan Pathfinder (2005 -20012) , silver like mine , with MY PLATE ON IT ! And also one of some dude about my size in a blue hoodie taking the item from the truck . I never wear blue except for jeans and maybe underwear .
He tells me the guy won't prosecute if he gets his stuff back and I tell him I can't give what I don't have . Next thing he asked for permission to search my house and received an immediate "oh HELL no !" . I put my finger up as in "gimme a minute" , pull out my phone and call a friend who's a criminal attorney . He was in court , his assistant says he'll call me ASAP .
I ask the cops if I'm free to go and he said yes , at this time you are . That tells me he just needs a little time to get warrants . I'm still thinking WTF ? and then thought of the remote possibility that someone stole my plate and actually used it on another silver R51 Pathfinder . We go out and damn if my front plate ain't gone ! But I'm still in a sticky spot , I have no proof .
I live in a townhouse and remember my Nextdoor neighbor has a RING camera , and I park where it should show my truck . Thank you Lord ! Cop went right over , they were home , truck didn't move all night . Exonerated !
But now some scum sucking shithead has a clone of my truck...
It was definitely mind blowing . What's the chance of me proving my innocence without paying a lawyer , friend or not ? They had all they needed for search and arrest warrants .OMG I'm glad that turned out ok.
New thread to me, was scanning through and saw this. Holy moly, didn't realize when I saw them at Thee Image, they were a new group. All I remember is, they were so loud and hurt my ears, just like Cream would do a couple of months later. Loudest concerts i've ever been to cause I was so close, it was a nightclub converted from an old bowling alley that probably held less than a thousand people. On This Day In History, Dec. 30, 1968, Led Zeppelin Was Recorded Live For First Time At Gonzaga University

Led Zeppelin, one of the most celebrated and influential bands in rock ‘n’ roll history, was recorded live before a dazed and confused audience for the first time on this day in history, Dec. 30, 1968.
“The show took place at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, and saw them opening for Vanilla Fudge,” writes Canadian entertainment site Exclaim!
“Led Zep were so unknown at the time that ads for the gig billed them as ‘Len Zefflin.'”

The sinking of MV Conception occurred on September 2, 2019, when the 75-foot (23 m) dive boat caught fire and eventually sank off the coast of Santa Cruz Island, California, United States.
The boat was anchored overnight at Platts Harbor, a small undeveloped bay on the north shore of the island, with 33 passengers and 1 crew member asleep below decks when fire broke out shortly after 3 a.m.
Five crew members, whose sleeping quarters were on the top deck, survived while everyone else on board died. The crew members were forced by the fire to jump overboard but not before placing an initial mayday call to the Coast Guard and attempting to alert the passengers.
The crew retrieved the Conception's skiff and motored to a nearby boat where a second radio dispatch was made. The rescue and recovery operations were coordinated by the United States Coast Guard.
Federal safety officials determined that a failure by Truth Aquatics — the owner and operator of the Conception dive boat — to provide effective safety oversight was the probable cause of the vessel catching fire and sinking last year, killing 34 people near Santa Cruz Island.
Families of the 34 victims of the dive boat Conception that caught fire near Santa Cruz Island two years ago, resulting in the deaths of all passengers and one crew member, sued the U.S. Coast Guard 9/1/2021 in Los Angeles. The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles federal court, alleges the Coast Guard failed to enforce regulations and allowed the vessel to operate with electrical and safety problems that resulted in the deaths.
The boat's captain, Jerry Boylan, faces 34 counts of seaman's manslaughter in a separate suit for alleged "misconduct, negligence, and inattention" to duties leading to the 2019 fire on Labor Day weekend.
The fire prompted criminal and safety investigations. Victims' families have also filed claims against the boat owners, Glen and Dana Fritzler and Truth Aquatics.
The company, in turn, filed a legal claim to shield them from damages under a maritime law that limits liability for vessel owners.
The families' suits allege that the 41-year-old Conception was in blatant violation of numerous Coast Guard regulations, including failing to maintain an overnight "roving" safety watch and failure to provide a safe means for storing and charging lithium-ion batteries, and that the below-decks passenger accommodations lacked emergency exits.
It is the worst maritime disaster in California since the sinking of the Brother Jonathan in 1865, and the deadliest in the United States overall since the USS Iowa turret explosion in 1989.
