there is no "proper" height. your strain and growing skills/techniques will determine your finishing height.

agreed...there is no right answer to this question

But there is a factor involved...basically you goto 12/12 when you have about 2-3x the height left to grow with if not LST'ing down the branches...if you are LST'ing things down then you can maintain the height at whatever you want(within reason)
