Oh okay. Right on. I figured it might have something to do with that but wasn't sure. I've seen folks do it with diatomaceous earth as well. I'm assuming for the same reason.Welcome aboard Waxer and thanks a lot brother. I use the layer of perlite for watering purposes and helps keeps certain spear away from my medium. Since I use coco I've notice about 80% the time they have fungus gnats and a top layer gives them a hard time I've noticed and they die off quicker. I have not noticed them but it became a habit now.
