No grower should be without one unless you really, really know your shit.
Try and grab one that is 60x magnification and up.
If you are like me, and find it near impossible to use one of these directly on a growing plant, cut small trichomed bud leafs as samples and bring them inside to get a good look at.
I bet lots of people will find that they have been pulling premature once they start using one of these.

What do you mean overall view?
I have one that adjust 60x-100x and I find myself using the 100x to check trichs. I'm sure 30x is fine and probably much easier to use, and easier to check trichs while still on the plant.
Sure I can only fit a few trichs in the viewfinder at once, but damn is it cool looking, and with just a tiny piece of leaf on a flat surface I can move the scope around to check the whole sample.
I notice no distortion of color at higher magnification.
