Onyx Grow Bloom vs Area 51 RW-150 Gorilla Glue #4 Grow

Very interesting system. Expensive, but obviously it works well. Thanks for making me aware of them, nice job the girls look fantastic.:bigjoint:

They just had a price increase, probably because they're getting more popular. I've been buying them from a local grow store for $45 each, still expensive for what they are. People are using them in different ways, soil, coco, perlite but I use them with a soil mix. Some even replace the fabric sleeve with 5 gal buckets, there are even people that set a large 15 or 20 gal fabric pot on top of the res. I also add 2 air stones to the res.

Bonjour
So did you compare blumat with octopot?
What do you think? Because blumats are far less expensive, so which one is the best?
Have a great day ★

Greengenes707 did a run with the blumat. I'd say you probably couldn't go wrong with either.

I may have to try making one to experiment with. Seems pretty simple in principle.

I have to say I'm pretty stoked on the Blumats, there are a few accessories I still need to get, but even just the $34 starter kit I got off Amazon is keeping my ladies in pre-flower plump and pleased right now. I bought a second kit for the veg tent and I'm setting it up tomorrow.

Bonjour
I have blumat since a year now, but i never used it... but i really want to know if there is a big difference between octopot and it. (Except for thepprice)
Have a great day ★

Big difference is the top feed vs bottom (wicking)

wicking from the bottom stimulates vertical root growth so I'd imagine the octopot has the upper hand in terms of "performancr" or delivery.

I love my blumats though. Just get to focus on the kiddos. Big perk (or could be a drawback i suppose..) I see the blumats holding is a res, you can hook your RO and a float valve above where the bulkhead is at and never worry about waterings altogether. I dono if you have to fill the octopot or not

It would be interesting to see a 20 gallon no-till pot on one of those. I wonder how well it would work compared to just a no till pot on its own.

I've got Blumats and like them but feeding through them can be tricky depending on what you use,I've had them stick open and flood the tent on 3 occasions but luckily I used a smaller res and caught it early. Adding a filter may solve that issue. I like the octopots and am thinking of adding a res to them, when one of my plants is in heavy flower I need to fill them every 2 days, these girls can drink a gallon and a half a day or more. I'll try to put up a description of how I use them and some do's and don'ts tonight or tomorrow.

I've started to feed my plants through the Blumats using Fox Farm Grow Big and Tiger Bloom, and a bit of cal-mag but I don't run the Big Bloom through them, that seems too chunky for such a delicate device. I just hand water with some Big Bloom every few days. In the Blumats I'm running low concentrations of nutes via 5-gallon bucket on a bar stool outside of the tent, then I run a gallon or two of straight water behind it, my girls are loving it so far. Can't wait to do a whole grow this way, so easy.

I'm looking forward to the Cap'n's tips.

Thought I would throw up a pic of the growth difference between soil and the same soil in a Octopot. These two clones came out of my aero cloner and were very close to the same size and same root mass a few weeks back. One went into a 5x5 pot and the other went into a Octopot with the same soil, there's only a couple inch difference in height.

Bonjour
Too much distance between the nodes...what kind of strain is it and what do you use to light them...?
CU

Hey littlejacob. I think captain is running gorilla glue or a gorilla glue cross. The glue can be a stretchy bitch by nature and he does a great job keeping her in line with a double trellis. @captainmorgan that comparison photo is very dramatic. Crazy.

Bonjour
If I remember correctly...this strain is not available in seeds!?
Where does this Gorilla glue come from?
It is a cross of what made by who???
Thanks

Ok...so if I want a clone I have to come to US (nevada? ?California?) And know someone who grow some? Is this the only way? (Than bring it back to France the hardest part, and spread it everywhere in Europe...)
