According to an article in the Huffington Post is may not be so easy to rent a place.

Instead of going after dispensaries, the city has chosen to go after the landlords. It is a bylaw infraction to run an illegal business, and landlords who know that they're renting to an illegal operation face fines of up to $50,000 and can even have their property seized.

I wouldn't worry about Huffington click bait, these landlords are also protected by my lawyer or choice.
 
Well I do not want to run a dispensary, I cannot work much. I am tired of doing deliveries, to many maniac drivers out there.
So this clearly leaves only one good option I can see: OPEN A DRIVE THROUGH WINDOW. LOL
 
Ya no offense man nobody is ordering from the states to canada, we are half the price and twice the quality with 100x the quantity.
 
Not surprising at all. It was not all about rec-only, according to the owner Shirley Martineau who said:

"she decided to sell marijuana when people who couldn't get a medical prescription came to her. It was her plan to use profits from recreational users to offer products to medicinal users for free."

Finding a sympathetic landlord will likely prove to be yet another roadblock. If some landlords start getting dragged down by fines, others may not want to take the risk. As a renter I am stuck with this reality. To be a grower you need to own your own place or be really crafty at hiding what you are doing.
