Opinion on routing ac exhaust this way

I was having problems keeping my temps bellow 88F. I'm running a sealed hidden closet 5x8'. I had a extra Portable ac 9000 btu unit and hooked it up venting through the exit side of my HID exhaust. It has brought my mean temp to 79 but its running non stop. Couple issues I see and need some help:

1st the negative pressure is super high. Its actually sucking my intake which is routed into my central AC like a vacuum. Im not super concerned now cuz it wont really run full time till mid May. But want to make sure it wont create problems down the road. I originally planned on just using my central AC but was not really cutting it.

2nd. The 6"exhaust and piping is almost 100 degrees. Thats about 12 degrees more then my exhaust if I was just pulling through my Carbon Filter and HID lamp. Would it be advisable to wrap the section of exhaust with insulation to help cool or would it not make a difference? Love to get the room to 76 or so.

Thanks in advance.

the ac unit that u are using is pulling air from the room and dumping it into your light... then where does it go into the attic?

i dont think ur sealed anymore i have the ac unit ur using, i dont use it for gardening tho

No, my fan sucks from the attic. So it originates from my carbon filter then light then ac exhaust to finish going into attic.

Twitch..I was thinking the same thing but I dont thing the AC is piped thru the light...am I correct on that point?? I would have that AC cooling that lamp...provided that it does not build up condensation on the glass, if your fixture has a glass, and vent it out into the atsmophere if possible. Have the carbon filter mounted up high exhausting seperatly...by having the filter up high it assists with accumulated heat that rises....that would also take care of negative pressure.

Can you vent your exhaust to the attic and vent the cooled air from the hoods into your room to keep temps lower?
I do exhaust to the attic from hood. Not sure how putting the warm air from hid would help cool the room. Might not be understanding you though.

One other thing...how are you exchanging the air in there now???
I have a inline fan for both intake and exhaust. My Exhaust free flows into attic and my Intake is plumbed inline to my 8" AC duct. So in theory its pulling through my AC distribution box. The run is about 25' and without my central AC its just sucking hot attic air. Wishing I could use myCentral AC but its a large unit that cools half my house and its just overkill to run in the winter

Just saw the pics...ya you need to change that set up...dedicate the ac to cooling the lamp on its OWN exhaust...do the same for the carbon filter....bring in fresh air into the gro and keep it down low...the fan on the carbon filter will draw and mix fresh air with the assistance of your fans in there moving that air. try to bring your fresh air in on the opposite side of the carbon filter so that the fresh air can make its way across the garden. Come summer time...you may still encounter problems...I know I used to have a hell of a time regulating temps in my room.

Ok, Just so I am clear. add a third inline fan to accomplish the following:
inline fan 1... suck from carbon filter to attic
inline fan 2....suck from portable ac thru lamp to attic
inline fan 3....push fresh air to lowest opposite side of room

all inline fans will be mounted in attic
Please advise..

1 and 2 yes...3 you have to find a way to get fresh air into that space....if you run your venting from 1 and 2 into the attic...try to exhaust them near the Gable Vent of the attic so that the heat can escape to the outside....you want to bring in cooler air into the grow space.....cooler air...not freezing air... lets think about the objectives...first...bring down that temp to optimum 75/76 degrees....once you achive that...you need to maintain that temp...you can do that with a temp sensor..just set it at 75 degrees..it plugs into a 120 ac outlet and your third fan..call it your fresh air fan plugs into it...you draw the fresh air from a different location of the house...even the attic as long as your not pulling hot air back in there cause then you are back to square 1...if the room starts to build heat...the sensor switch kicks on and the fresh air fan starts running and bringing the cooler fresh air you need...I hope this makes sense...I see it clear as day in my head buy...sometimes it kinda hard to get the message across

Thanks BC, makes perfect sense! My only problem is I'm deep in the Tropics and the lowest temp ill see in my home, in, under or above is 80-85 pretty much year round. I guess i might have to suck it up and get my central AC going. Kinda sucks though cuz our summer e bill runs close to a grand a month and we enjoy the lower winter bills. I might just go for C02 and live with the higher temps....

Does it cool off at night any....you are running your lights at night right??....You can find strains that will handle that heat and grow very well!! Mandalaseeds.com out of spain....I know them ..I have grown and tested thier genetics...they can handle the heat....I ran the grow room at 90 degrees f...not one hermie and beauitiful buds the size of a regular size water bottle ( the mail cola ). get on thier site and reasearch the strains that are heat resistant. No bull shit....I only talk facts!!! co2 will allow you to operate at higher temps as well...good point.

Yeah running at night, usually about 78-80 during light on. My dark periods during the day are actually warmer in the room about 82-85. Ill look into some of the strains you mentioned. I appreciate all the help and Ill let you know how it works out.
