Opinions on Hydrologic Stealth-RO150?

Looking for opinions from owners please.

What do you like/dislike?
Any "need to know" things?
Issues with the auto shutoff feature?
Got one on order and looking for people's overall satisfaction levels.

It will be ran off a dedicated 1/2hp jet pump @ 60psi ( .6 ec without filtration) with an additional sediment pre-filter serving 3- 30gal reservoirs on auto off floats.

Has anyone tried testing cartridge lifespan differences when running 2:1 / 1:1 ratios?

I’m commenting to see the opinions as this is my choice too.

I owned several of those, RO150, 200, 300... If you use the stealth feature (the little restrictor for brine) then the membrane wont last long. They work well, I switched up to a larger system because I couldn't get through a run without having to change the membrane in the stealth 300.

If you restrict the brine you will allow the prefilters to last a little longer since they filter everything that goes into the membrane housing, part of that becomes brine. Restricting the brine will kill the membrane faster though, so probably not worth it.

Yeah, for the brine, it is just a little restrictor that you stick in the hose that connects to the brine output. Somewhere around here I have some laying around. With the stealth RO's I started just replacing the whole damn filter instead of buying membrane and shit for it.

One thing to be aware of, every unit I have bought from them requires you take the input fitting out, put more plumbers tape on the threads or it will leak. It's the fitting with the gauge.

Thanks for the heads up. Luckily the waste is going in a 36" deep dry pit, so f@ck that restrictor.

Can you explain your pump set up a little more? What is your water source for the pump. I have my RO set up temporarily uy need to figure out something else maybe cause I feel it's gonna burn up my well pump. How many gallons per day are you trying to achieve as I bought the an active aqua 200 filter thinking that would be big enough and it's not. It works but I want a faster flow so can fill my Rez faster.

Still a mess but, it's just 2 shallow wells tied together. The pump on the left runs the geothermal of my house and the other outlet was used just for outdoor spigots. My other pump craped out a while back so I just tied my spigots into city water.

After dealing with crappy city water, and then hearing the waste water constantly running down the drain I decided to get a new pump and use the system for my grow.

Capacity wise I don't need much. I run drain to waste and only use around 16 gallons a day.
I have the 3- 30gal containers. 1 for veg, 1 flower, and one as a pure reservoir of RO water.
With an RO you only get 50-80% per day of what they are rated depending on how "prime" your setup is.
As far as speeding up the flow rate, you're not going to see much of a difference unless you plan to spend $$$ thousands on a true "commercial" setup like this...
That's why I have 90 gallons of storage.

One other thing to consider is they make these floats...
You just drill a hole on the side of your reservoir, install float. Water line from the RO pops straight in. Tank fills. Float cuts water supply off. Auto shutoff on RO kicks in (if yours has one) and system is off. No need to worry about how long it takes to fill.

I have a float valve to shut it off, my concern is burning up my well pump cause it's running for 10-12 hours at a time to fill up my water tanks. I'll be needing 100-200 gallons a day.

I have plenty of storage barrels I just need something flowing more gallons per hour that way maybe my pump is only running 3 to 4 hours max.

Or maybe even this one since if I need more later I can buy a booster pump and double the output. These things can run up to 150 psi. Look at the graphs on their picture section. It shows how much they should flow at a given temp and psi.

Its to my understanding that the gallons per day is rated for hot water. I haven't tested it but i have a 150 and it pumps out 1gal about every 13 minutes for me using cold water. Im guessing hot water would only cut a couple minutes off that so not worth it for me as just plan ahead so time isnt an issue.

I think the majority of companies are measuring them at 77 f to get there highest flowing numbers. Also majority of em are also measuring at 60-80 psi to get those too numbers as well.

I dunno why they do that who has 77 degree water? Could be in the south I guess.
