Optimal time to switch from MH to HPS

when is the best time to switch out my mh for my hps bulb?

I'm in my transition week right now, turning lights down and changing nutes

is it best to switch right at the start of flowering?
Or to wait a few weeks than make the switch?

Just curious to see if anyone has any information on this.

As soon as I start the flowering phase I change the bulb, although I see no harm in not doing right away.

At one time MH was used throughout the entire grow period. But since the introduction of HPS it was used primarily for flowering.

Leave the MH in there for the first two weeks or so of flower. This will greatly reduce the amount of stretch that plants experience during the initial budding phase when using only HPS. The plants will respond to the shorter photoperiod.

Ideally we would benefit from using both spectrums to flower. Say a 600 & a 400W lamp, a 600W MH bulb & a 400W HPS bulb in the first couple weeks. Then switch to 600W HPS & a 400W MH bulb. Your plants would actually believe they were outside.

The bulb I was planning on using isn't around at any of the local hydro shops.

They won't be in until late next week. So, I'll be going at least the first week with the MH. No biggie I guess we'll see.

Just got my hands on some Bud Ignitor I am interested to see the results!

never checked out Bud Ignitor, but it's on my Christmas list this year....wonder if Santa will bring me this...
