Organic 400W Soil Grow: Maple Leaf, Candy Kush & Peace-Maker

It's been a while since my last post on RIU. Four years ago I started growing (along with my first Grow Journal here on RIU) and have learnt SO much from this forum. 4 years on and not much has changed: I'm still using the same Homebox L with 400w HPS, though this will be my last grow with this setup. I'm starting to put together my next room, a slightly larger Dark Room (not impressed with the Homebox) than can accomodate more plants and a 600w lamp :eyesmoke:

For this grow I decided to go with 3 strains that I have yet to try:
- 3x Candy Kush
- 3x Peace Maker
- 2x Maple Leaf

I veg'd the clones (got them from a local grow shop... gotta love Switzerland!) for about 4 weeks in my smaller tent with a horticultural 2700k CFL lamp at 150W.

The plants all grew very differently; some much taller than others. I decided to top all the plants about a week before flowering, and removed the lower third of foliage from all the plants.

For nutes (all organic) I'm using the following:

-Local "Light Mix" soil (with perlite and all the godies)
-AN Tarantula & Piranha
-Bio Bizz Root Juice
-General Organics Daimond Black Humic Acid
-General Organics Bio Thrive (Bloom)
-BioBizz Grow
-BioBozz Heaven
-Canna Bio Boost
-Molasses
-Cider vinegar for pH down

The plants have been under 12/12 lighting since the 20th of Nocember, so about 3 weeks now. Flowers are coming along nicely:

I added a Dyson bladeless rotating fan for my girls

What do you think?

I'll be updating regularly, so do stay tuned!

Thanks :-)

I honestly don't know how much air volume it moves, but it has 10 speed settings and controllable temperature.

it oscillates just under 90 degrees, so PERFECT for a corner in my tent.

I can tell you it's doing a much better job than my old Honeywell fan. i just love the non-choppy bladeless system!

Nothing's too much for my girls :weed:

The canopy is definitely filling out. Thanks to the Swiss wintertime, I can keep the light pretty close to the top of the canopy. Temps are around 25C, humidity slightly low at 35%.

The problem with a multi-strain grow is the different plant height of different strains/phenotypes. While I've always managed this without much work, I had to come up with a way to make up for with the massive difference in heights between some of the Maple Leafs and Candy Kush plants versus the extremely short but bushy Peace Makers. What's funny is that I bought all clones on the same day, fed them the same food, and vegged them for the same time... Genetics eh? :-P

This was the only temporary fix I can think of so that all plants got equal amounts of light. Having the fan on the other side of the stacked plants doesn't disrupt the airflow, and since I trimmed all the lower foliage, no one's going to miss the light down there  I think that one is solved. For now...

You can see just how small the Peace Makers turned out. This is the shortest of the three, and the smallest plant I've ever grown.

And a closeup of one of the Candy Kush. Look at the baby trichomes :weed:

Things are looking good :)

All the plants seem to be happy with the tops more or less at the same height.

I've been feeding them at every 2 out of 3 waterings. I've been trying a new (Dutch) organic blooming product by Atami and so far I like what i'm seeing.

Here's a shot of the canopy:

Here's a shot of the 3 Peace Makers on one side of the tent. While extremely short, the bud formation is quite impressive! even the lowest buds are swelling up more than the other strains.

Here's one of the Candy Kush. It looks like they'll be finishing sooner than the rest.

The girls are budding along nicely. Picked up some General Organics Urtica for the added iron (helps with aroma) and other microelements.

one of the Maple Leaf Indicas. Looks about a week or two away from chopping time.
