Backstory to my question:
After hours of searching I can find but one OMRI listed cloning gel and that's Humboldt's. It's also like $32 for 1oz. After searching for an alternative, I found out about using new Weeping Willow or Dogwood stalks chopped/puree'd into a gallon of water and soaked/brewed for 24 hrs. Dip the fresh clones into the mixture, and water them with the rest.
I have a plant called the Wandering Jew. It hangs outside in our backyard on our porch-swing. It is a member of the Tradescantia Fluminesnsis family and what it is really good at is self-propagation. The stalks that fall to the ground firmly re-root themselves in about 2 weeks and the recommended method of propagating them is to cut the stalk and let it sit in a cup of water. Well after letting my daughter do so, this is what we got. The first is after 2 days and the second is after 2 weeks.
This all sounds like the same methods of propagating the Willow Tree... Can anybody tell where I'm going with this? My question: Can I use the Wandering Jew for it's root stimulating hormones like I can the Weeping Willow? Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!
