oh i see. wood ash is a good source of pottasium, it sounds like you've made up your mind but ill add anyway if you use it you cant use any ammoniam based nitrogens supplements, ti will make poison gas. also no painted or treated wood. burnt banana peels or sweet potato peels are even higher in potash.

what would those supplements be? like are they called that or is that a fancy chem name for orange juice or sumthin? haha

YES i have been meanin to get some bananas, im hittin up publix tomorrow so im gonna be pounden em down - im tryin to get as much as i can in my compost in the next 3/4 weeks before i transplant again and use the soil :bigjoint:

if u want your mix to turn into usable compost FASTER then u wanna "turn" or mix it up often. the more air that is mixed into it the better. u can also pick up compost activators which are usually microbe's that get things going.

yeah Buddha totally with you on this one bro. im looking to do the same thing, 100 percent organic alllll the way no bought ingredients or nothing. 2 reasons 1, is that not TRUE organic? 2, im straight up broke right now hahah

I use my compost heap to feed my tomatoes and veggies in the summer. DO NOT put any kind of animal matter in the compost other than eggshells. animal fat will ruin the compost. NO animal products, except eggshells. Give it a stir with a shovel now and then, and if its in the sun, it could be useable in a couple months from start. There's lots of ways, google it, but I put a little compost in a cloth bag, put it in a bucket of water, add 2 tbsp. molassses (very important), and divert one of my air stones from my fish tank into the compost tea (also necessary, the air pump kills bad bacteria and w/the molasses, the good bacteria feed/grow). Brew for a couple days, then water. The compost left in the "tea bag" can be dumped back on the heap and reused..

yea i've been turnin the fuck outta that pile, once every like 4 days, n constantly pouring the ends of tea/leaves, pissin on it, and puttin in food - mostly squash, eggshells, greens, and apple cores among other things

the compost itself takes about a month, but i let some of the half-composted stuff make it into my pot- along with two earthworms that were in there, figured id let them digest the soil and then once they die the plant will just eat em

but, i think im gonna get stuff to make a compost tea, which is just poured on when watering

yeah you can get a few cheap ones at walmart. Oh and remember to put more green materials in your compost than brown, it well get the bacteria going that annuals love

everybody feel free to come by the grow and check it out- after a bit of water damage their getting pampered and thriving, with flower coming within the next 2/3 days
the mary james is at 50 days veg (wow its been awhile already) :sleep:

and has been topped for 4 colas
the white widow is at 39 days and was fimmed, each plant is about 8/9 inches high :weed:

I've been growing organically in pots. I always use lava rocks in the bottom to make it drain.
I like the idea of burning some banana peels. Might as well dispose of the trash in the fire. Ash must be fresh before its rained on.
Like the dry organic bone meal.
