Ok I've never done it but have been thinking of adding organic amendments to my ffof eventually
Im doing it right now but not putting much effort into it. Im trying to slowly go back to organics. Right now i just got a used batch of FFOF that i play with. I feel comfortable using it again after about 3 months of sitting with amendments and turning it a lot. (You KNOW its good when the old roots are all gone)

ive learned to not be so against synthetic food but im with ya , i want water only if possible.
Im gonna mix a batch of something real simple an see how it goes. i'll prolly start with 1/3 EWC, 1/3 aeration and 1/3 coco. maybe even get it to 1/2 EWC one day....

I read half ffof and half 420 eb stone with perlite is a good mix , the post said the eb stone has few things that makes a solid mix
Idk if thats true as I've never done it but figured I'd throw it out here

Just buy some Canadian spagnum peat moss, pumice, and high grade hummus/ewc/compost and make your own base soil by adding each of these main 3 into 1/3. Make sure to keep track of your cubic ft.

Switch out the coco coir with Pumice (lava rock) coco coir is inert and gives no benefits really to the microbial life in soil. Pumice will provide great aeration, ground your plant better than perlite, and has minerals beneficial to your microbes.

1/2 ewc... you're gonna need the other half to be aeration. :p :p:bigjoint:

Coco is not inert. it has great moisture holding abilities and can grow microbes. (one would have to assume that its better then peat because the ph is much better. ) Also the coco has a much much bigger surface area then lava rock. Allowing more microbial activity.

Then there is the long fiber , chunky coco that i have.....its mostly air. You could literally use it as perlite or lava rock. It holds a lot more water then perlite or lava but its mostly just aeration.
