I am currently in my 3rd week of Veg! i have used no nutrients at all, and last transplanted a week ago into a mixture of 5-10% perlite and the rest is 50/50 topsoil/peatmoss.

im curious what can i use for nutrients that are readily available at major hardwares stores like rona, home hardware, home depot etc... i live remote and those are my only options.

i have seen bloodmeal as a source of N ( dont like the idea of dry blood as an organic subsititue,
and Bone meal as a source of P, but i have no idea what to use for K or any of the other nutrients like calcium, etc.....

can anyone help with this at all?

Go to your local place and just check out what they got.

Some basic organic soil + coco coir + blood and bone + manure is a very easy to assemble soil.

I would recommend starting a compost if you can. The soil I use is:

kitchen compost (with tonnes of worms)
coco coir
perlite
blood and bone
epsom salts
cow manure
potash
garden lime
old garden soil
general organic fertalizer

I mix, water well, then leave in the sun for a few weeks.

Well if you need some quick Nitrogen then use some fish emulsion. That will give you time to work out a proper phosphorus supply for flowering

I picked up some Alaska Fish Fertilizer! 5-1-1. i hope that should be good enough for now. however i just over watered, and my plant isnt liking it very much right now, so i need to decide when i am goin to give it some of this!

If fish emulsion is good, can I water my plants with water from my fish tank? I have to drain 1/3 of it every month or so. I have a 75 gal freshwater tank with goldfish in it.

it's hard to say, but if you don't use any chemicals to treat the water then probably. You could always try with one plant and see how it responds.

That would probably be a very low concentration of it, maybe good for slightly older seedlings. When I add the emulsion at the right concentration, I've got water that is slightly milky/brown

Wait until the pot it is in is much lighter to lift. I find the weight of the pots is the best way to gauge water needs (unless the plant is showing clear signs of distress. I've never over watered since using this technique

I dont think that would be a smart move considering most PH in Fish tanks are 7.4-7.8 PH so it would be alittle high. plus if you have any ick or other fish bacteria that is bad, you wouldnt want that growing on your plant or soil. the bottle of alaska fish fertilizer was 5.99 for about alitre of it, which will last you a very very long time.

yes it boucned back very nicely and has taken its indica shape thats for sure. take a lookg at my journal in my signature! Should i do 1/4 or 1/2 dosage of the fertilizer to start? or does it matter because its such a week concentratoin 5-1-1
