Since I had started organics I felt teas were mandatory on a weekly basis or every 3 waterings or so... What I kept running into was my plants were running out of SS early and I was running a fair % of SS and I don't run co2, way more than enough to prevent running them out by the halfway point... And my results were decent but not the nugs I know I can produce..
So my most recent run of tga's the void and qush I decided to follow subs initial suggestions, ie... "Water only"... Sugars at day 30 and 45, as well as a soluable myco between weeks 2 & 3 (not sub recommended but rather the rev...) and this run has produced the best buds quantity and quality-wise I've done to date even though my SS was made from recycled SS and base...
But what I think what was happening is that when I'd hit them with the teas so often; the micro life being introduced was so abundant, they would devour/break down the materials too quickly in the container requiring my ladies to need supplementation to make it through... Ie more teas/bottled organic soup...
My advice is similar to what you (OG poster), unless the plants look like they're in need of nutrition, go with the water only approach the first couple go rounds until u get the SS %'s close... Then see what throwing a tea in the mix will do at certain points in bloom... I think teas are a valuable addition in veg; pre-final container.... but once you drop your clone/seedling into the final pot with supersoil, let things be until u get familiar with the strain...
I cant say I've been happier with my results since using only water (RO maker that adds 30ppm of ca/mg back into the water) and 1tsp per gal of molasses @ day 30 & 45, my yields have never been as good either which I attribute to the mycos at all transplants and a soluble myco between weeks 2 & 3 of bloom...
Ive been trying to figure out and combine the best of subs supersoil style of growing and the revs TLO.... Both are very similar and use mass amounts of amendments, the no till guys don't consider it organic or whatever... But SS is as simple as it gets, the TLO provides the soil recycling aspect along with a few other things like vermicomposting (werm-farming) but I'm not content with my results yet because I know they can be better but the simpler I seem to make it, the better my end result is...
My my advice for space dawg... Which I have the small bud, super branchy pheno that I have yet to grow good enough to like but I really haven't given her a good proper run in a proper sized container and always end up supplementing with soup... but top and train aggressively, try to keep the secondary branching in check or else you'll have a giant bush with tiny little buds that doesn't yield shit... I still have my pheno but she's been pushed to the back of the tent with the rest of my banzai-ish clones to be cloned and ran at a later date... I have yet to be impressed but I tend to think its my growing skills rather than the strain.... I have batch of SS waiting to be mixed so we shall see what happens on the next run once the soil is ready...
