Interesting,
I feel my media is borderline over consumed in my 5 gallon fabric pots outdoors. The plants around 3 feet seem to want more.
(I have always been a big pot person with organics, as adding organic nutrients frequently does not have time to be converted by myco and bacteria into usable form by plants.)

Once you get over 5 gallons (with autos), indoors or out there seems to be a quick curve of diminishing returns.

I dont know about that. This is in a 15 gallon (coco watered once to twice a day) and I got 350ish grams dry weight. The plant is an auto, a bluedreammatic from fatbuds. Its all about your growing style nothing more nothing less. Maybe im just an outlier.

Chemical ferts are a whole different game.

Well, I’m still learning. I will post my pics of root ball (if it comes out in one piece)
after I harvest in a few days.

Reading the breeders info on the strain they are talking max 300 grams for the auto.

So thegremling kicked ass with 350 grams!

Keep in mind the non auto version is a 12 foot monster that yields kilos!

I got the blue dreammatic as a freebie from attitude. They carry the seeds. Yes that is "dry weight."

Yeah, I'm no expert, that's why I said "seems to be" -- some of my experience, some reading from others. The guys who do pure organics talk about wanting more soil than the guys who who rely on nutes, but that makes sense.

There does seem to be another factor to size -- kind of like how a fish will only grow proportionally to the size of the tank its in -- some plants seem to get much bigger if their roots never (or take a long time to) find limits. Other plants aren't that ambitious, and whether they are in 5 gallons or the ground itself, they only get so big.

I think this is why it's hard to pin down and make generalizations, there "seems to be" a huge amount of variation in growth patterns and potentials, and differences in how they react to various environmental factors, between strains.

There is a tip I picked up from a guy on youtube by the channel name "grow pot cheaply."In one of his videos he explains the 4" rule of roots. Look up his video for more explanation. The rule essentially "says" that the (cannabis) plant needs only the first 4 inches of media beneath it to maximize potential (I think I butchered the definition). He uses a 4x4 rockwool cube and a watering method to get HUGE roots. Here is one plant that I did the test on, notice whats inside and outside the rockwool cube. This is a great tip for bigger yields (but it takes time to master as some dont know how to water rockwoo, I.e. they drown the plant).

Notice the hose? I do like to share knowledge I dont like "secrets." Also, I have all types of brands of fabric pots and NONE come close to developing the root system like this system (thickness). Cheers!

Nice thread and some awesome plants here. I just harvested a Bubble Kush auto grown outside. I thought it was a twin but after looking at the roots I must have planted 2 seeds together-moral of the story, don't smoke and sew seeds. Anyway, couple of pics. Not a huge plant but a decent yield and looks to be nice smoke.

Had an emergency chop last night. Rain a week ago and humidity
in the mid 70’s for a week and the mold monster showed up. About
a week or so early by the looks of things. Will have pics after trim
and a few tears lol.

Looking to plant something in a couple weeks and harvest in late October or November, when our highs will be in the upper 70’s or low 80’s and lows will be in the 60’s.

White Widow is usually very mould resistant. Dinafem has XL WW so it'll be good sized too. Its also considered one of the most easiest and new grower friendly plants to grow.

I'm growing a dinafem auto white widow xxl at the moment I'm crossing auto ultimate over it. Never grown it outdoors before this but it is growing the quickest out of au ,mazar and white widow

Dinafems reg WW auto is the reason i bought $450 worth of Mephisto seeds. I threw it in with a few photos, 3.9 gal pot from my autopot system(not on the res) with coco, fed with nutes 1 time a week(even being in coco) with an old 200 watt cfl from when i first started in 12' and got almost 1 1/2 oz. I didn't even try and she was such a good plant. I decided since i was low on phitos i was going to really put effort in autos for awhile and not dissapoi ted in my choice. I would always support Dinafem White Widow for anyone that wants a good easy plant that also will yeild well especially the XL since mine was just the reg auto.
