outdoor cabinet?!?

Hey all,

I have the opportunity to grow on a balcony that is hardly visible to people walking by, it's kind of sunk and there's stairs in the way etc.

Anyways, it's a good sized space but I wanted to put things in a cabinet or whatever so if someone does happen to see the balcony, there isn't anything to see.

Is it possible to use a cabinet, similar to a stealth cabinet that one would use indoors, but use it outdoors? I can't think of any reason why it couldn't be done.

My main concern would be the temperature... it's not THAT cold here but it gets down to 50-60F at night, which from reading this site is outside the optimal temperature range. I know how to keep an indoor stealth cabinet cool but how do you keep an outdoor stealth cabinet warm??

get a window ac unit off craigslist for like 50 bucks and use it as a climate controller

I was thinking maybe something smaller, like the one that Al B. Fuct uses on his bud dryer, but controlled a thermostat instead of a dimmer. I have never played around with thermostats before, are they strictly on/off? Or could they be for variable control of a heating element in the intake vent somewhere?

Does anyone have any experience with using a stealth cabinet outdoors?

have any pics of this spot.... if people can happen upon it i cant find it a very good place to grow... think of it as a 1/300 chance ur goin to jail.... get a warmer/humidifier if u wanna keep it warm...i went to walmart erlier this winter... i must have seen atleast 20 diffrent kinds....

Or just set your light to run at night. But how will you hide light leaks? Seems like it would need to be 100% light proof and you could never open the door when the lights on or the whole block would light up, so that means you have to interupt the dark period to work in there and that would be BAD. Unless the balcony is somehow lightproof it seems really hard to manage to me. Wouldnt it be easier to just get some of those transparent corrugated greenhouse panels and just use the natural light? It would sure be cheaper.

It's hard to describe, but i'm not worried about visibility at all, it's off the alley in the back not the sidewalk out front. And it's well below ground level (which is also the reason I need artificial light). And hidden by the stairs up to the main level.

Any thoughts on keeping the cabinet warm? Is it even necessary? What is the scoop when it comes to temperature? I know you need to keep things below 80-85F, but is there any minimum temperature that is ideal?
