outdoor grow, height restriction, topping question

I have a newbie question as this is my first outdoor grow in the CA Bay Area. Currently got a few ladies; Chernobyl, Agent Orange, and Blue Dream. Put them all out from indoor around May 28th. All are in 10gallon smart pots.

I am looking to top them because I have a height restriction (7' fences).

When is the best time to top and can I if necessary top more then once? I can do some tie downs if need be but would like to try and get some 5-6' bushes instead.

Any thoughts, info, ideas would be greatly appreciated! If you have specific info about a certain strain I am very open.

look up fim topping bending and normal toping will all help you can alwas tie bracnces down

You can carve some strains into a topiary. The blue dream is gonna be a hand full. Start pruning any time you like, just quit before they start to flower.

The more you trim, the bushy'er they will get.

Yeah I hear the Blue Dream is gonna be a big girl. My hope with the smaller pot's was to control the size but I'm feeling that is going to only do so much. You think with topping and being in 10gallon pot's I can keep them under 7ft?

If you cant keep them under seven something is wrong trust me. If you top them when they hit five ft you should limit there growth prior to flower end of July. I have been growing in the Bay have yet to let a plant go over my privacy fence. Go get you some rebar to tie the plant down but I think with a timely top or fim you will be fine. I have two Blue dreams so stay tuned. I have a green crack that will fill up my greenhouse and I still dont think it will reach seven ft. keepem green dirrtyd

I wouldn't top them too much. Toping cause stress which cause a slight slow in grow for a small amount of time while the plant is focusing energy to repairing the lost growth node. I would do it a few times and use the LST (low stress training) technique. let it get 7 feet tall, tie all the branches down and let the girl keep growing upwards and you will yeild alot more.

this is what i've been thinking through the entire thing, so what if you have highr restrictions just bend the plant . chopping the plant will allwasy slow growth and therefor make veg time longer, or harvest lighter..... by bending the plants you allow it to continue on its natural growth cycle. i NEVER top my plants anymore because one i stopped i started to harvest more, LST all the way. it allows for the same bushiness with out slowed growth.
