Outdoor growing in containers (not in ground)

Hey everyone! Im currently growing 10 total plants. The sour diesel is growing great, i started the clones in gallon containers and after 1/2 foot, i transplanted into (3) gallon containers. When i transplanted the (3) clones they had roots all the way at the bottom of the gallon container. I know the rule of thumb is a foot per gallon and diffrent stains yeild diffrently...i was wondering if anyone knew the average yeild and size of the finished plant in (3) gallon containers i know there sativa sour deseil. Also should i wait to plant them into larger containers beacause its so early in the season and i want them to have room to grow during flowering. Any help / suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

roots grow fast, believe me. i started seeds last year in early may, by the end of july they were completely rootbound in 5 gallon containers. the plants wilted and looked to be on the verge of death. vegatative growth stopped completely, all plants were about 3 feet high. the leaves propped up a bit when they started flowering, and the stems stretched to about 5-6 feet. each plant yielded me about 10 grams. not worth the effort i put in.

three gallons is not enough, not even close. personally, i've taken a vow to put my babies in the ground from here on out. if you really want to go with pots, you gotta go with big motha****in pots.

When i plant in pots, I end up at the end putting them in 40 gallon totes buried in the ground to control height. This allows for a nice root system and you can get BIG plants but still have the option to move them if the situation dictates.

Just dont put a 6" seedling in a 40 gallon tote...work your way up and your roots will be happiest.
