1. a tote is a plastic container or tub used for storage.
2. cfl bulbs screw right into the clip on lights just like a regular lamp.
3. it depends wether or not you use the pots i suggested. for 5 plants maybe like 2x2 or a little less.

u basically want something to sit your containers in so when you water you have something to catch the water or you have to move them ( especially in a hurry ) you can just grab it and go.
