Outdoor hydro diy

It's also shut down for the winter. Not sure if there will be a significant change once everything is up and running. Pond plants growing....fish not dormant. I'll be starting the pond up day after Easter. I guess I'll take it from there.

Ok, so I think I have this figured out. It's pretty obvious to me that over the course of this part of my outdoor grow, the I'll need to feed. The problem is I don't want to hurt the fish or cause a massive algae bloom in my pond. I'm going to try to treat this like my reef tanks. I use a refugium that is a tank to grow micro algae and other plants such as mangroves and shit. What this does the s break down nutrients so that my water stayed clean. I'm going to make one to go after the hydro in a "marsh" seep. This should remove all extra nutrients if I can get the right turn over. Hence, imo, once dialed in, I should be able to feed pretty heavy. This isn't thrilling to me to have to do this but I think it's gonna be necessary to pull this off riu style. The fun part will be that I'm gonna make it part of my pond. I think the turtles and frogs will dig it.

lol end up with some fuckin mutant monster fish, now that i'd rather see!

Still have some tuning in but the major part is done. Gonna break it down and secure things and get on with the next step. I still need a t inline between the pump and hydro to slow the flow down some to drop below the baskets. Only gonna do 4 pots it think

hydro is run in greenhouses where temps can exceed 100F! Your setup should work well!

It will be 6" in the ground. Between that and the pond water staying under 73, I'm hoping it does the trick. I have some styrofoam boards I can put on the sides if temps rise. That's the other concern I've been thinking about. I have a big chiller I used on my reef tanks as a last resort. Gonna be trial and error I'm thinkin.
