I don't know about you guys, but I will not be staring at the cameras all day. For months. I will probably end up losing my mind by the end of it. Or I will just snooze or miss something at some point and the whole thing will be a waste of money. Also, that sounds very time consuming and ineffective, especially when compared to high-quality motion detectors. I can be doing some work around the house, watching TV or surfing online, or sleeping, and detector will notify me of trespassers. I don't have a wife, and I sure as hell wouldn't trust a non-family member. However, if you have a small yard then yes you have no choice but to stare at cameras in shifts 24/7. But then if someone notices your crops, no matter what kind of surveillance you have the crops will require even more protection. If you have a big piece of (outdoor) property to manage, then with motion detectors (different beeps will tell you which ones was tripped) you can get plenty of warning to intercept trespassers and deer BEFORE they notice your crop.
Cameras are more expensive than motion detectors, as well.
Theoretically the cameras sound fantastic and all, but once you think it through - how many people will be willing to watch cameras for months non-stop just for the sake of a few illegal plants?
