Outdoor slug problem?

Slug Shield all the way. Just bought the last 4 packs at my grow shop. They are King and last all season. I got them online last year and shipping was fast - hope that helps!

Salt, NO - screws up your soil. Sluggo/Slug Pellets NO - need to re-apply when it rains and it kills soil microbes. Copper wire from hardware store, NO - not enough coverage to deter them. Diatomaceous Earth, NO - needs to be re-applied when it rains. Cup of beer, NO - attracts more slugs, needs to be emptied/diluted when it rains. Slug Shield YES - lasts all season, expands as plants grow, rain-proof, no maintenance, organic, doesn't kill soil organisms. Are your plants and your time worth a dollar a piece? Craaazy no-brainer.....

Slugs are one of the worst creatures to have with marijuana seedlings, one slug can kill multiple plants overnight. It seems like out of all the surrounding vegetation, the slugs end up going for the mj plants, slugs are attracted to marijuana the most, they must think its delicious, probably a delicacy lol. Ive heard of many methods over the years, two of the most common being the beer and copper wire trick, slugs can cross copper wire, unless you spend a bunch of money on wide copper metal and place that around your plants buying spindly copper wire will not do anything. The slugs are only attracted to the beer because of the yeast in it, the beer goes bad within a couple days and you have to change the beer almost every day. I have also heard of people putting down dry substances around the perimeter of the plant, the theory being, slugs have to produce to much slime in order to crawl over something so dry making it impossible to penetrate. Sand and wood ashes are supposed to be to good for protecting from slugs. My way is a little different, I like to do things the fast way, and the fast way, and the way I recommend is go down to your nearest hardware store or garden shop and buy a 500g or so box of slug bait pellets. Its a box that contains a bunch of tiny pink pellets, all you have to do is simply spread it in little piles in different areas near your plants. I can guarantee you that this stuff works wonders, it will stop literally EVERY slug that ever had a mission on munching on your plants. A 500 g box of pellets is only about ten bucks and can last an entire season, depending on how big of a garden space you have. You only need to re-apply every 2-4 weeks, but the seedling stage is when the plants are most vulnerable. So Quick before another bastard slug kills another plant, go buy some slug bait and sprinkle!!! lol hope that helps, happy toking.:bigjoint:
Thanks for the advice man, ill have to find some of those.

slug shield is a rip off imo. go to the doller store and get the copper wool made for cleaning pots and pans. it looks exactly like slug shield and they are both copper... slug shield costs like ten bucks for a package and its a buck or too at the doller store... works MINNNT

bubbs, i have the same trouble!

Every night i get at least 3 or 4 big boys in my kitchen! god knows where/how they get in!

i will have a think n get bk 2 ya!

I have three suggestions that will stop the slugs and snails, all are quite cheap and very effective!

1. Get some ash from a fireplace or stove and place it in a circle around your plants. Slugs hate it and will not cross it. You may need to apply it a few times if it washes away etc.
2. Get some cans of beer, dig some holes near your plants, open the cans and place them in the holes so the tops of the cans are at ground level. Another method is to get the waste beer from a nightclub/pub, pour it into a container and place the container in the ground at ground level. Slugs & snails love the sweet taste of beer and aren't particular about the taste, quality or cost of it. They go for a drink and drown!
3. Invest in a duck. They love to eat slugs and snails!

For best results I recommend using at least two of the above methods.

Hope this helps! :)
