Update....Just an FYI, All my special order seeds have shown their sex now. I planted 2 white widow, 2 northern lights, and 2 AK-47 seeds a while back. Every thing is female except one of the AK-47 plants. This will be good for pollination since I want alot more high quality seeds to plant in the future. Righ now the plants are approx 2ft tall on 18/6 cycle. Going to transplant this weekend into 5 gallon planters then switch to 12/12. That should put the plants at 4-6 feet tall at harvest time.

Transplanted my six special plants yesterday into 5 gallon buckets. I'm going to switch to 12/12 light in a day or two.....Transplant went well, they all look perky and ready to grow....... I purchased an A/C unit from Wal-Mart for $89.00 and mounted it in my growroom to keep the heat down when I switch to 1000W HPS for flower. Hoping my power supply can handle the draw....Should be able to....A/C draws 4.5 amps and the 1000w light draws 9.0 amps....my breaker is 20 amps, should be good to go I believe.

Well, just an update.... I couldn't run both the A/C and 1000watt HPS....I gave it a shot but the outlet was getting warm and I didn't want to chance a fire so, I put the six plants outside in an open topped livestock trailer that I have. That way they can stay cooler outside and get plenty of light instead of risking them getting to hot and not enough light in the shed.
I took six clones (one from each plant including the one male AK) and 4 of the 6 are rooting well it seems. I'll probably take some more cuttings this weekend to see how they do.
The clones I do have now, are in the hydro unit, I expect they will take off growing soon. I'll try and post some pics of the 6 in the stock trailer soon.

Wow!!!!

Just got home from checking some of the corn field plants I have.....I only checked them once before about 2 weeks after I planted them......
I thought the one field had been sprayed with "Round-up" (weed/grass killer) but boy was I wrong.....They were all yellow and bad looking, I gave up on them in my head. lol

Today, they are taller than me! I had to reach above my head to top some of them. Amazing! Most of them are over 6 foot tall already. The stalks on a few were equal to a roll of nickles in diameter... Sweet!

They are starting to pre-flower and from what I seen all but one so far are female. I checked approx. 35 plants today in two seperate fields. I still have a few other fields to check still but I assume they are doing just as well!

I just so happened to talk with the farmer a few weeks ago and he said he usually harvests the corn early October. Hopefully that gives them enough time to flower out well.

Quick pic of my five special plants (all female).....2 Northern lights, 2 white widow and 1 AK-47 (2nd AK-47 is male and in corn field now to be used for pollination) They are all in 5 gallon buckets and about 9/10 weeks from seed. Using a mixture of dirt, potting soil, perlite, and peatmoss.

Just took 2 cuttings from each of the 5 plants early last week....so I have 10 cuttings I am cloning. Used Olivias cloning gel as I usually do, put them in rapid rooters and into a humidity dome with heat mat which I have on a timer running on one hour off one hour (24 hour cycle).

That's all for now, ~Outlaw~

Well, I have moved my five remaining special plants inside and started 12/12 light using only a 250 watt HPS and 300 watt CFL. Both lights are hanging in the center of the plants with no hoods. I rotate the plants 1/4 turn each day On of my white widow plants turned out to be male. I have collected pollen from my AK-47 for future breeding and plan on collecting ww pollen also.

On another note:
I checked on another corn field (last one to check) lastnight and couldn't find anything! I'm pretty sure all 25-30 plants got sprayed with herbicide! I still have three fields that have not been sprayed and 2 of the 3 are doing excellent! In the 2 good fields there is probably 50+ females. All of these are 8ft. tall. I knocked down probably 10 males a week ago.....that was a sad point in my life! hahaha. Seemed like such a waste:cry:

2 more months to go and we'll see what the end result will be.

Jesus, how early do you get up?? The livestock trailer is an EXCELLENT idea, and great re-purposing. :D

LOL! I'm up in the mornings at 4:15am to drink some coffee and watch some tv, gotta start the day slow if I can! haha......I moved the plants inside from the livestock trailer, they were almost to the top and didn't need anyone spotting them. I moved them into the shed on 12/12 cycle. another 8 weeks for those probably too! lol Damn the waiting!

I switched my DWC bubble clone unit over to a fogger system.......The rapid rooter plugs seem very hard to find a happy-medium with. While clones were in the jiffy greenhouse they seemed either dry or soggy it was hard to keep them just moist especially using a seedling heat mat. I put them in the little bubbleponics clone tub that I had made but had the same soggy effect.

Yesterday I pulled out the airstone and put in a fogger that I had bought awhile back at wal-mart ($25). It has seemed to make somewhat of an improvement with some of the clones. Overnight root growth took off for several of them, others have done nothing still. The clones are still green, I'm hoping I can salvage a few more of them.

The fogger seems to keep a warm haze which I think would be perfect for the clones. Next time I will place fresh cuts into the unit and see how things go. Here are a couple pics of the fogger system.

Here is one big leaf from a very large female well over 8 feet tall bearing 6 main colas.....Down to 17 female plants of equal size and another 8 females of less than average size at 4-5 feet tall. Out of all that were planted, that's all that remain. I am pretty dissapointed with the amount of males that grew (all cut down). However, next year I'll clone to assure female.....

I just placed an order for 20 Early Misty seeds and 20 Durban Poison seeds. See if I receive them.

The leaf in the pic is the biggest I think I have ever seen in person.

Here is a little info for everyone, coming from a veteran farmer. lol I posted this in another thread to help out another grower.......Thought this may help out a few others as the time for harvest closes in.

Depending on where you live,...typically in the northeast region of the U.S. harvest will be late Sept. to early Oct......
There are some twists to when harvest comes.....weather, variety of corn that is planted (corn is labeled by days....you have 90 day corn, 105 day corn, 120 day corn, etc..etc..) farmers around here plant later day corn first then through-out planting change to shorter day corn, that way it is all ready at the same time. (hopefully that makes sense).

Corn stalks will eventually dry out and turn yellow/brown. Typically it takes quite a while before the corn is ready to harvest..Ears typically (depends on variety) drop and point downward. This helps it dry. (The husks shed rain water, dew, etc.) Most farmers who harvest and truck directly into a grain mill harvest when the corn is around 16% moisture give or take a couple %. Farmers who dry their own may pick at slightly higher moisture and dry it down.

A quick and easy test to see if corn is ready to be harvested is to shuck an ear of dry corn (that means take the husk off lol.) hold the corn in both hands leaving a couple inches between hands, and twist the corn back and forth. If the corn squeeks while twisting, it is dry enough to harvest typically.
Hope this helps some corn field growers out! Just a few tips and tricks of the trade.

Here are a few pics of my indoor plants..... 2 Northern Lights, 1 White Widow, and 1 AK-47. They are about 3 1/2 weeks into flower. The bad news is, I couldn't use one of my 1000 watt HPS because of power supply limitations, so I'm forced to use a 250 watt and rotate the plants daily. I need a conversion bulb for my 400 watt MH but can't sqeeze it right now. I'll see what I end up with I guess....haha. My main purpose for these was to build up a supply of "good" seeds, pollenated with AK-47 male for all the females....NL show no signs of seeds but WW and AK do have some.

Still waiting out the corn field grow...........Gonna give it another 2 weeks (that's the plan) unless I freak-out and think that the fields are gonna get combined before hand......I doubt it will come to that though. The corn is still pretty green, I think I have a little more time to let stuff mature some more.

Ok, this past Friday evening I went out and harvested about 1/2 of my outdoor grow for the season. There are still 12 plants in cornfields that I need to get but I still have a week or so till the corn is harvested.....I'll head back out this weekend to get the rest.... As for now, I have it all trimmed and drying. I probably have 10 or 12 hours in trimming but saved alot of time by buying a pair of rechargable grass shears to use on the biggest buds.

I took some pics of what I've gotten so far from the outdoor harvest and also took some pics of the White Widow and AK-47 that I have inside. Everything is drying on a 30 in x 8 ft portion of screen (for rabbit pens) with air circulating.

I'll keep updating as I make progress! :weed:

best journal i have read in a while. hope your story gets even better!
Well, Thanks Brendon420....lol. The story has gotten a little better as of today.....Everything is pretty much dry now....there are a few odds and ends that the stems aren't snapping yet but pretty close..... I've ended up with 2 pounds so far....This weekend I will go out and get the rest of it. Then within the next 2-3 weeks I think my AK-47 and White Widow should be finishing up.....Northern Lights #5 still has a ways to go till it's ready though.
