Overall advice

I am in the process of buying the supplies to start my first grow in the next couple of days. I have a friend giving me two clones.

Right now I have 2 18 cool white floros in a regular lamp and 3 32watt soft white cfl's which I now know are for flowering. Tomorrow I am going to get 3 day light cfls. During vegging should I run the 3 soft white as well as the rest, or just save them for flowering?

I have a space of 2 feet deep 3.5 feet wide and 5 feet tall. What method of growing should I use to maximize the space? I have read a lot about all of the methods and right now want to do a SCRog method being that it seems efficient. If anyone has any tips on what I should do with lighting or growing method please chime in! Thanks in advance.

ScrOG seems kind of difficult to start with, but i've never done it.

I'm doing my first soil grow in a space about the same as yours, growing 3 plants under CFLs. I bought Garden Knowm's book (sticky in the cfl section) and it has definitely helped me get started. I'd recommend it. My setup (link below) is from the book, you can check it out.

Get the 40 or 42 watt bulbs and just use em all the way through veg and flower.

How many plants are you going to grow?

Scrog works... but for 2 plants... try looking into LST (low stress training)

Kind of bending the stem into like a bonzai tree shape... it helps the growth for strong stem and strong branches and also stays short.

Remember.. the best investment you can make is buying a ph test kit.. (10 bucks MAX) without the right pH water, your plants will not thrive!

Goodluck!
