Oxygenated Nutrient Feed

Hi

I've read on several sites about adding oxygen to nutrients feeds to supply the roots directly. This is normally done with an aquarium pump and air stones over various periods of time.

I've been doing this for a few days now and you can definitely get gazillions of air bubbles in the water, turning it cloudy!

Has anyone got any experience of this - I know lots of people do it, but have they actually noticed any benefits.

I keep one in my rez never thought bout just oxygenating water but keeping everything moving so it all stays mixed. Extra oxygen to me is just added bonus

turn off the pump for a week. then you'll see why it's important.

roots need O2, leaves need CO2.

If you are doing it for a soil grow, it won't hurt anything but won't provide much upside either, at least in my experience.

Plants are in 20L pots with 60/40 coca/pebble mix. Top down feeding 1.5L every other day - about 0.25L run off from plant.

I think Bugeye is right - it won't hurt!

Would be interesting if anyone has done a side by side comparison though?

my bad. i thought you were doing a dwc grow.
it wouldn't hurt for sure. it does help keep the nute solution fresher and the nutes from settling at the bottom.
the coco will hold plenty of air for the roots.

I think keeping your water temps cool is far more important than bubbling if it means your water temp is going to go up while you bubble. Warm water does not hold O2 very well!
