Ozone gen or negative pressure

I have 4 carbon scrubbers, but I still get some stink upstairs. I just sealed the room so well see, I expect some smell while I trim but not weeks 6, 7 & 8. So I was thinking about putting a fan/scrubber on the room adjacent to my grow that's in between the living space going outside, creating a negative pressure, but I'm worried that could just pull more odor out of the room. I also heard I can use smoke bombs to locate aNY leaks I may have? I just wrapped room in 4mil poly so I'm hoping it's better. Also, I really wanted to inquire about an ozone gen. I've heard there not safe in a living space, any truth to this? What about adjacent rooms?

How are your carbon filters attached to your fans? Could you post some pics?

If you suck air through the filter and then through the fan you're less likely to have smell leak than if you blow air through the filter. If your joins between ducting/fans/filters are not perfect you can get smell leaks too. I found normal ducting with jubilee clips are the most reliable at eliminating smells. Acoustic ducting and quick clamps were pretty difficult to get properly sealed as the padding seems to leak slightly no matter what you do.

Ozone in an area you live in for a prolonged period is a bad idea IMO. Ozone is very unstable and reacts with whatever it can. That's how it kills smell... it reacts with smelly particles to neutralise them. Only problem is ozone would also love to react with the lining of your lungs. Have a read of the EPA's article on ozone's effects on people:

I agree with LoftyG,
Suck through the carbon filter and make sure your fan is not overrated for your filter. A slow draw through the filter gives the carbon more time to absorb the odor. Also instead of ozone maybe try some ona gel in your exhaust ducting. Ozone would be alright if you were venting it outside or in your uninhabited loft.

Cheers,
Will

you want a negative ION generator, but better is an ornamental water fall or fountain feature type thing it's a good way to remove aromas. too much Ozone is dangerous for plants and people, negative ion gen is just a voltage multiplier with a frayed end to charge the air with a extra negative charge, ozone is from the spark bit, found on a few electronic web sites- cost about £3 to make or £45 to buy, makes a difference. i made a small waterwheel geny to run the lights and stuff and de-fume so dont need the carbon filters 8-)

My fans/filters are on correctly. Rooms total 1600 cuft. I now have 5 fans totalling 2200. Just got 5 brand new tall filters and put up another layer of sheating.

I use ona in adjacent room when I trim. Sometimes in last week of flower also if needed.

My concern if when we have people over mostly.

Would the ozone gen be safe I'm adjacent room only while I trim?

I'm sick of living my life around the smell of my grow.

Also I don't think I have any leaks, I had imagined they have HVAC smoke bombs so I can make sure?

But this negative pressure to outside seems like the way to go.

How well do these negative ion generators work and are they safe?

The way I have it setup is 4 seperate areas within my loft (mums, flower1, flower2, veg). Each area has it's own fan and carbon filter which extracts into a central area. So grow section has negative pressure. The smell of the grow is very faintly detectable in this central area. I then have another fan/filter combo which extracts air from the loft into my house. There is no grow smell in the house as the air is double carbon filtered. If there was any smell at all then I'd probably stop growing.

You can use smoke to detect ducting leaks.

You probably want "smoke pellets" as you don't want them burning for too long or filling the whole room with smoke so you can't see what you're doing etc.

I'm just going to see if the new sheeting and new filters do the job, if not then I'll try the negative pressure idea and if that doesn't do it, ilI look for any leaks using hvac smoke pellets and if I can't find any I'm going to get an ozone generator for the adjacent room.

Also, I'm sick of using 4-5 6" scrubbers. Once these are spent I think I'm going to go with two 12 inch scrubbers. Twice cfm can't hurt lol

Thanks guys
