Good morning RIU:) I have just been cleared to start my MMJ grow. I have 1 concern. My room is in my basement. It is basically 100% concrete, ceiling, walls, everything but the door. This is the room I smoke in, until I go puckup my clones today. The smell leaks out, so I know the grow will stink.
My question is, how bad would a Ozone Generator be, if I placed it outside of the room. Killing all smell that leaks?
If I put a Can system in my room, with no place to exaust, that would deafeat the purpose, correct?
Sorry this is my first post, I have been lurking around the site for awhile. This is my 1st grow and im sure ill have other questions:) Thx for your help. Awesome site btw!

AN ozone generator and an air scrubber will Help, But it rarely takes care of all the smell.

Why dont you grow a no-smell strain like Northern Lights #5....

Ive been lookin in to it. I think I will. As of right now, I have free AK, and White Russian clones being gifted to me. They actually are 6 weeks into veg. So I know when I grab them, im going to need a solution. My local nursery has a Ozn-1 for $150. I have read good and bad things. I just dont want to get anyone sick. My family does'nt go down to basement often, but im just leary. Thanks for the fast replie btw.

Put the ozone 1 in the room outside the grow room, set it so you can barely detect the ozone smell, and your worries will be over.

Thx! With it being in a basement, with no real circulating fresh air, will build up occur? Or should i place a small circ fan near it? Thx again..

Ive got aa room similar to urs. I just cut a 4" circle in the door, added a outdoor dryier vent, with a fan sucking fresh air in. It works fine. I have a Ona bucket blowing outside of the room. It still get pretty stanky:( As for Ozone, not sure dude,
some people swear by it. In a basement with no fresh air circulating, not sure if I would. ^^^^ Those dudes prolly could help better. WR and Ak? Nice for ur 1st grow! Good luck, smoke well...

Not that simple? so what do u recommend? I would love to go with a Can setup but no exaust:(

Them strains that were given to you wont work out in your situation..

Im just being honest bro..

Like I mentioned earlier.
Get northern lights #5 from high grade seeds..

They are 60 dollars.. >>> http://www.highgrade-seeds.com/seedlist.html

You will only get a slight pine smell..thats it.

And Use a canfan33 to run throughout your room.. It will make your basement smell fresh.

This is your best option.

Take my word now... or you will understand later ;-)

Good luck man. :)

Will runnin the Canfan without exausting it kill odor? Im sure it does, but I assume it will kill the life of the filter faster?

Ive seen it done before..and it can work.

If its the only way, then do it.

It would be ALOT better than running an ozone generator, especially in an unvented room. ;-)

You cant grow in an invented room...why are you people not telling him this?

Plants need co2, how will you replenish the co2 in the room if its unvented?

It cant get too hot in there, how will you keep temps down if you arent moving hot air?

As someone else said, chuck 2 fans in your grow room door. One at the top blowing out of the room, one at the bottom sucking in. (Even better, make the one at the top a nice powerful fan coming from a carbon scrubber out the top of the door with a light trap, then just have a passive intake hole also trapped at the bottom for fresh cool air.

The rule is generally:
You need light to grow weed.
You need clean, cool and co2 rich air and growspace to grow weed.
You need nutes to grow weed.

In that order..even the best grower couldnt grow good weed with ONLY light, nutes and the best techniques...you need ALL of the above. You will get more quality product from a properly cooled 400w hps than 2 1000w that raise the room temp to 35-40 degrees c.

Dont mean to be an ass, but i would hate you to set up thinking your biggest problem will be smell, when you wont get that far without proper fresh airflow. Someone did mention it! I think it was just overlooked by the OP. Hope this clears things up.

If you cant put holes in the door go buy another door for like $30, then you can do what you want to your door, and just a few screws to mount theirs again for inspections.

^^^ Thanks for the imput. I do have fresh air coming in. I cut a 4" hole near the bottom of the door. I then attached a outdoor dryer vent, with a black nylon to mask incoming light. On the inside of the door is my circular fan. It get plenty of fresh air.
My concern was putting the carbon filter in and having to cut a hole in the door to exaust. The guy at the shop said to attach the vent over the plants, running to my new Canfan33. I just assembled it.
That fan sucks air fast. I put a nylon over the end of the ducting, because I can see leaves and buds getting sucked up into it. $245 for everything, I couldnt find it that cheap on the web. 5 yr unconditional warranty:)

Does this sound as it will work??

Where does the air go out? If you have your intake and exhaust both in holes in the same door, I don't think it will meet your fresh air requirements aside from your smell issue. How much light are you thinking about putting in there?

He's in the basement playing with his new fan. You should do a build journal Livestrong. It will make it easier for the guru's to help you out.

My air doesnt go out. No exit. Only the fresh air coming in. So the I put the intake duct over my new ladies:) We let them sit for a half hour, got smelly quick! Then we turned the fan on. Vamoshh! Gone in under 3 minutes. The fan sucks into the filter, thats it. I have 2 600w digital lumiteks. My basement is COLD, right now the heat in the room is 77. I will sneek in later, afyer lights out, to see if I may need a space heater during the night.

My room is a progress in work, maybe ill upload some pics, and make a journal tommorrow. But so far, 0 smell. Just a Canfan sitting in the corner, above the plants, thats all.

I've used an ozone generator for two grows and it did a flawless job. I grew Big Bud, White Widow and Blueberry.

I used it in the room. Actually it was just a grow cabinet, 4' x 6' x 6' tall, in-line fan with ducting out the top.
