PahPah Grows with Hortibloom 350 Solux LED

I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to test the Hortibloom 350 Solux. This LED appears to be well made. It’s heavy, nearly the whole thing is thick metal and a glass shield over the LED panel.

Try not to blind yourself like I did when I turned the thing on. Ouch, this thing is bright!

At 100% the LED runs 317W

I ran into an issue with this run unfortunately. I went M.I.A. For a few weeks because I had a freak accident and managed to sever my tendons and artery in my dominated hand.

The good news? I managed to hang the light up a few days prior the accident so all steam ahead.

For flowering it’s ideal for a 3x3 space. I had fun experimenting with it in combination of my two 550watt LEDs.

This is a 8ft by 3.5ft(ish) room. With this wonky design and the LEDs dimmed to around 800W I was able to get a really uniform coverage. Everything is within 100par of each other. I’m using one of those cheap photo bio par meters.

I picked out 23 plants to nurse back to health in order to flower them.

The rest were disposed of. I leave no evidence behind. 178B4B93-2665-4A6B-A271-3429A4E52054.jpeg

Here’s some of my soil. It’s just some coots mix I recycle.

Hey PahPah, why do all your plants look shitty?

welp, I injured my hand and said fuck it. Then I started obsessing with building an automatic irrigation system and continued on neglecting them.

Inline pump to reservoir. Then another pump for mixing.

And each plant gets one of these custom drip rings. Totally didn’t take me days building this dumb things.

Alright, everything is in its home position. I was able to shove 23 plants in there in 5 gal containers.

I’m starting to actually take care of them. They need a little TLC and maybe a bunch of epsom salt.

.5x zoom to fit the whole room in.

Think I read somewhere that poppies veg at 12/12 and flower at 18/6? Something like that....
Definitely. Apparently so does catnip. What was cool is the poppies still vegged for an about a month before it started bolting. I heard cannabis does the same if you try to grow in under 12/12 right off the bat.

Alright! Things are starting to look healthy

So a little bit about how I’m feeding them all. My coots mix soil did well for a while. I started getting some deficiency but epsom salt resolved some of this. I use tap water (ph is almost 8 and it’s around 250ppm) which was starting to cause problems. This apparently is essentially liquid dolomite.

to work around this (next time I’m going to amend with half the dolomite lime) I’m starting to top dress with langbeinite. This supposedly will help with my deficiencies and help with my excess calcium build up. I can explain more if anyone is interested.

When I water I like to add Zues Juice on occasion because I have a bunch on hand. It’s just kelp and fulvic acid. I also rotate LAB, photo +, and slf100. Once every few weeks I hit them with a cultured biologix instant tea. I prefer brewing my own compost tea but laziness is winning.

during flower, I’m top dressing 2TBL of dr earth flower girl and 1.5TBL langbeinite every two weeks.
