Pandora's Box, Querkle, Dairy Queen in Super Soil

How's everybody lookin' in here? I know everyone's freakin' over the Querkle, but what about Pandora's?? How's my little girl doing? heh heh. . .

Perfect timing on your question Bobotrank. I went out last night and did a full photo shoot. I'm organizing the pics now and will update in a bit. Pandora's Box is looking good, as you'll soon see. She has pumped out some beautiful rockets of trichome lovin'!

Overall, the ladies are looking good. They plumped up nicely while I was out of town and the fade is coming along well. Stepping into the shed is like walking into a Dank factory. The smell is out of control! Good thing my filtration system is up to the task...

I've also noticed they really slowed down on the water intake. At the peak of the stretch they were drinking about a gallon each per day. They're probably down to half to three quarters of a gallon each now. I last fed Sucanat a week ago. I'll let them cruise to the finish line on what's left of the nutrients in the Autopots.

Here's a look at the menopausal mommas now:
Querkle 2 - The Purple Princess. She's showing some great color. The smell has settled down off that floral-fuel scent from earlier and is coming on more fruity.

Pandora's Box - Rocket shaped nuggets loaded with trichomes. I definitely like this plant. It's gonna be a tough decision whether to keep her though. The scent is very mild, like a lemon drop candy. I'm willing to bet there are tastier phenos in the pack of seeds I've got. I need to be very picky about what to keep in the stable since I'm limited on both space and plant count.

Dairy Queen 1 - Still got that rotten Gorgonzola smell. I like the calyx to leaf ratio on her compared to DQ2.

I think we're within a week or so of hatchet time on the Dairy Queens. Trichomes are cloudy, and a few are starting to turn amber.

Thanks for the kind words (and likes) everyone. Bobo - I did go with 1/3 supersoil on the Querkle. As T rightly noted, they would have benefitted from bigger pots. I grew these girls too big for 4 gallon pots. Especially considering they were in autopots which require more aeration, which was provided by 20% perlite. Considering that I'm committed to the autopots for their simplicity and automation, I have three options to further dial in the setup. 1) Increase the size of the pots - I have 5 gallon grow bags that can be placed in the autopots to bring total size on the range of 7 gallons; 2) increase the volume of SS in the 4 gallon pots - probably would work but increases likelihood of nute burn; 3) keep soil volume as-is and supplement with Earth Juice earlier and more often. I guess I could also veg less and grow smaller plants but that doesn't sound like much fun...

Since I've got so much EJ around I'll plan to feed earlier and more often next time. Once the EJ is gone I'll go with larger pots and take full advantage of the magic that is Supersoil.

We chopped the tops off the Dairy Queens last night. I decided to let the lower buds get some direct light for a few days so they can finish ripening. I'll try to get some pictures posted of the trimmed buds soon. As you all know, harvest time is busy time on the farm so it may take a day or two to get those shots up.

very nice my friend you've just finally helped me make up my mind on what im going to do for my first indoor grow, well one strain at least. It is most definately going to consist of querkle and either jillybean or spacejill... haven't quiter decided if i want orange or sour candy worms..

I've got lots of beautiful sugar leaf from each of them (not to mention the beautiful buds) so I'm shopping for bubble bags today. I wanna take a run at Sub's hash making methods.

I'll try to get my harvest shots up in the next day or two... Medshed

Nice, I bought a set of 3 bags a couple months ago from Amazon. I've gotten the best hash from my 73 micron bag. And after one run using the 25 micron bag I won't use it anymore. The hash produced from the 25 was green and crumbly, but the hash from the 73 mic. was nice and blonde (made some super stoney Agent Orange hash). IMO the 8 bag sets aren't worth it, because you end up using one or two of the bags that produce the best. I would shoot for a final bag between 55-90 microns.

Thanks Tex. I am looking at 4 or 5 bag sets. I went to a local store today because they said they had 5 bag, 1 gallon sets but it turns out they only have 5 gallon sets. I think the 1 gallon sets can do up to 2 ounces at a time, which is pretty much exactly what I need. I may just go order online now. I was hoping to buy local and do some extraction this weekend while the wife and kids are away.

Regarding the low quality hash from the 25 micron bag, I would make tincture out of that. I've been making tincture by soaking trim and small buds in 100+ proof alcohol (Everclear), straining and then refining by letting the alcohol evaporate, adding water so the trichs settle to the bottom, pouring the water off and then finally letting the water evaporate. Once I get that "hash oil" goo I add glycerin and a little vodka to suspend the solution. It works, but is a huge pain in the ass with way too many steps. Ice extraction seems like a much better way to go.

I have the 8 bag kit and love it. The 73 and 90 always come out full melt. depending on the strain, I have made full melt out of the 45 and 120 as well. Using Subcools method, the 160 and 25 micron bags are def worth keeping around for tincture. I usually save mine up until I have enough to make a big batch of taffy or jolly ranchers, I plan on doing some glycerin tincture in the near future. Looking forward to your harvest shots.
