Paranoia or intuition?

It's been quite some time since I've been active here @ RIU. I was forced to shut-down my grow due to my daughter moving back home a little over year ago & when things got back to normal, I had become very busy with work and a training schedule that just kept me from getting started again as I knew anything I tried to do would not receive the care and attention it would require.

Sooo......I have decided to get things going again and ordered some AN nutes & a few new pieces of gear for the room.(All from the states, NOTHING international.) What I'm having an issue with is that after all this time at idle, I decide to have a go at things again and an old buddy shows up out of the blue asking a bunch of questions regarding my knowledge of growing and if I'd have any interest in it.It should be said, that this person has been caught with an indoor grow before. While this has always been a solid, stand-up kind of guy as long as I've known him, I found it rather strange that he shows up now after a year or so, & immediately after I have some gear shipped. I have never ordered seeds, and NOBODY other than my dog knows about my "room". So, I can't figure if this is simply a coincidence or if I've somehow been flagged by purchasing nutes or gear online? Any thoughts?

i would say probably coincidence, like duku said u havent done anything illegal.
and for it to not be a coincidence first the police (fbi dea m15 whatever) would have to be monitoring your online purchases. seen that you've bought some nutrients (not illegal). put 2 and 2 together to work out your growing . found out that your friend has been arrested before for growing (also have to find out hes your friend in the first place). approached your friend to get him to try and set you up (instead of jus going directly to you, and trusting him not to tell you). all in all i think the police 1 arent that clever, 2 dont have the time resources or the right to do that, and 3 probably dont really care
it seems very very unlikely, but i get what ur saying growing can make us nervous

Well I wouldnt tell him a thing, which I am sure you know and didnt. Other than that you are in the clear. You can purchase all of that indoor equipment for many things, not just for growing MJ. You are fine.

I think I agree.....just strikes me as one hell of a coincidence however. I'm sick of paying good money for shit weed, it's time to become self reliant again.

Don't trust anybody any further than you can pick them up and throw them. Two can keep a secret if one is dead. Grow your own but don't let on that you are/do/will. Advise him to buy a book or watch You Tube. Tell him your daughter means more than any amount of pot. You're scared you'll lose her if you grow and she knows etc. Then get growing after he walks.

BTW it's probably a combo of paranoia and intuition. Listen.

Agreed. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if anyone else was aware of what I was doing. I had zero hesitation to shut-down when my baby girl came home for a while & she would never sell me out. I am a true loner, life is much simpler this way.:blsmoke:

I guess a lot of my insecurities on this subject are due to my ignorance of the technology era. I'm a bit older than what I suspect many members of RIU are, I used corded phones, and got up to change the channel on a B&W television set. The web is an alien world to me, even after 4-5 yrs "clicking" my way around it......

It may have been an innocent "stop by and say high" type of thing, tho i dont trust anyone really. Is it possible you had a empty shipping box or whatever he might have caught with his eye?

with the huge surge in growing over the last 2 yrs, he might be jus thinking about getting into it for the same reasons you do. If you have a nice garden or are really good with houseplants, they might jus think you can pass on some useful info. Id be hesitant to invite them to RIU, simply because you dont want them to be able to put 2 n 2 together..

For the record, I tell people about RIU whenever they start getting to heavy on "how to" questions. I dont mind trying to help someone learn, but Im always hearing people talk about the same things I thought was stuff you HAD to do to grow killer weed. They dont like hearing info that contradicts what they think they have "learned" already.
