Partial Harvest Question

I have a PPP plant with the top 1/3 almost perfectly done. Alot of the inner buds on the lower branches are still all white pistils, but have huge amounts of trichomes on them even though they have all white pistils. Another problem is that these lower buds are really small.

So, should I harvest the top 1/3 of the plant carefully, and try to get those lower buds that are loaded with resin, but still have all white pistils, and are very small to get bigger?

I'm worried that since there are so many trichomes on these lower, but small buds they may get milky or even amber before the hairs start turning from white to red/orange.

I have been flushing the plant and withholding nutrients, so I know about that situation.

If I have to harvest ther lower buds when the hairs are still white will it smoke good?

And I am dead serious that several of the lower buds look like baby snowballs with white hairs growin out there heads. It almost seems like there are more trichomes on these little guys than some of the upper and outer buds that are huge and very close to harvest.

I could probably take the top cola and a bunch of others off right now and they would be kickin.

Sorry for the long post, but I just want to get the most.

Any help or advice and experience with this type of issue would be appreciated; ALOT!!!

I say if the top third is ripened you can harvest a few branches and let the bottom 2 thirds go a few more weeks. Maybe hit em with an organic boom nute and molasses for a couple weeks and then flush again.

just did the same thing myself, harvested the main cola, and one large side cola, the rest ripened nicely
some claim this is not the best way, but it worked for me(was a nl#5)

I hope it works for me too. Its such a beaut; i wouldn't want to hurt it. What do other people who don't think this is a good idea do? Do they just harvest the whole plant anyway and keep the small white haired nugs for normal smokin?

This is my first official successful plant. I've had others, but they had so many problems I wasn't concerned about details like this. It would feel like sacrilege if I messed this girl up.

Thanks for the answers and if anyone has other ideas or opinions please let me know.

I'm going to do the same thing to my outside goo. Glad I ran across this in New Posts and didn't have to search because I was wondering if it would work, also. I did chop my purple kush and left her lower branch that I pollinated and she's growing seeds now (still alive over a 3 wks. later). I also germinated my Goo and I'll definitely leave that branch to grow seeds (she's already started) as long as possible and she's also got the same baby buds growing below. Thanks for asking and thanks for answering! Here’s the goo and pk.

hair color really doesnt matter, if the trichs are amber its about done. the pistils will turn after harvest if its for looks if thats what your worried about. go ahead and cut down the done parts.

Don't pay attention to ANYTHIING other than trichome color .... follow the link .. read, learn and then do.

Amber thrichs play a part, it is not the only factor. My Violator Kush had amber trichs a month ago but was not ripe enough to harvest. Depends on heat, time, strain and many other things. If you rely solely on trichome color you stand the chance to be disappointed in quality and short changed on weight.

I agree. Sometimes I harvest some earlier than the rest to try to determine what is best for the particular strain.

I dissagree. Pay attention to EVERYTHING. Why disregard other certain indicating factors? Makes no sense? All strains are different.

Exactly!
Determining a personally optimal harvest time is more art than science.
