I know Willowbrook Park! What a small world. Yeah if you stay on South Avalon heading north in 2 blocks, on your right, you'll see the gutter my cousin died in. If you continue on another few miles you'll be at Echo Park, feed the ducks, but be careful they could shank you.

people talk about rough neighborhoods where they live, they have NO IDEA! That Compton, Watts area is the fucking real deal.

On a side note I went to the Watts towers when I was a Boy Scout in the early 70's, very cool (scarey back then even)

I grew up in the Beach Cities, Redondo, Hermosa Torrance

My job was canvassing the ghettos years ago, knocking door to door in every single neighborhood in Southern California for ADT security! I used to have to wear a blue polo, lol. Never heard "you da po-lease? So much in my life. It was mandatory to keep some chronic on me at all times! You never know when you're going to have to roll up a blunt for some gang bangers. Honestly I was really worried only once in watts with the fudge town mafia crips, I think they wanted to intimidate me, it actually smells like crack cocaine up and down the street there! Grape street crips were more friendly in watts! To me. Comptons not so bad, all the grannies on the porch smoking reefer would just say "it's getting dark out here boy, you better get on home" lol.

Well, we did canvass SanDiego and Orange County too, I'm no dummy lol, I didn't particularly like walking the hoods, but they needed protection too. I had more freedom to walk and smoke herb in the ghetto! I actually felt kinda at home there. Eventually I became the closer and dropped my representatives off on different blocks to canvass, when someone seemed the least bit interested the reps were to call me to come close the deal. I never had a license because it was suspended , yet I had my own ADT van bwahahahahahahahaha wrecked 3 of them before they actually found out! I used to have my reps pretend they were driving when shit went down! Once I T-Boned the only other white dude in Compton, I ran what I thought was a green light (I was smoking weed out of an apple) I finally had to say, I can't do this shit anymore! I had almost died on the side of the freeway after a blowout, I was under the van, when about 200 yards up an accident occurs and two trucks and a semi came sliding toward me, luckily i had my reps get out on the shoulder, they started yelling "chewy get out of there" as I look up I see the mess coming at me, I roll out from under the van and smash! Life is rough for a young white canvasser in SoCal
