what up riu

alright got a single bagseed 35 days into flower in my case. have her in dwc. the roots seems to be somewhat slimey and brown. i am currently running 12/12 with 500 ppm of flora nova bloon and like 100ppm of flora nova grow to help with nitrogen. have used bushmaster to stop vert growth about 2 weeks ago.

what is this? what can i do to fix?

also leaves are starting to yellow. to soon for them to be dying off.

here are a few pics to give you an idea. please get back with me on this.

pics were taken while the light was off. so yes they will be a tad droopy. and as for overwatering....its in a hydro tub. that is not the case.

anybody have any other input on the roots?

its hard to tell from the small pics, but it sounds like algae, which comes from light getting into your resevior. you should paint the outside of ur resevoir black, or either cover it with duct tape to prevent any light getting in.

Those roots look bad.. I think you need to rinse those roots + refill the res with fresh water add a enzyme additive alongside the nutes you are using.. they should look like a nice healthy white they are way to brown to be doing any good.. I bet they don't smell too good either?

can be green, red, or even white, if thats not the problem, check on ur resevior temps, should be in the low 70's high 60s, and maybe get more air in the resevior.

roots really dont smell at all. i have tried washing them with the sink water and changing res many times. what type of enzyme are you talking about?

the pump is for 40 gallon tanks maybe it just isn't strong enough

thanks for the comments guys

Any enzyme product that is suitable for hydroponics.. I use Enzmye Plus by Ferro for my DWC grows, if you let those roots carry on like that beleive me they will stink to high heaven..you can turn it around though, had the same prob myself.. so I rinsed roots until all dead matter fell off, changed res every 2 days- MAX!! & added my enzymes.. roots started growing back lovely & white in a couple of days..

Cheers m8, not being funny but you may need to a trip to the grow shop, I don't think just water changes will help you looking at those roots.. been there myself.. just my 2 cents

That may well help if you have a warm res.. nice thread btw.. isn't that the same stuff hairdressers use to dye your hair? maybe you should be making a visit to your local Tony & Guy rather than the Hydro store!

hydrogen peroxide is the stuff moms pour on an open cut or a skinned knee to clean a would. its the stuff the bubbles and kinda stings lol.

i got the 3% and figured i can put like 4 or 5 ts's.

It's hard to tell from the pics, if it is root rot it isnt the worst case i've seen, on the other hand the roots could just be stained from the nute. But since your plants are showing sings of stress and you suspect the roots, you are probably right. BTW in a DWC overwatering is the same thing as not having enough oxygen in the water.

H202 can damage your roots and play tricks on your nute solution. It is okay for a temp fix when you consider the damage root rot can cause, but if you have a hydro store why not pick up some sterilizing agent, such as dutch master root zone. It's like $16 per bottle and at 1ml per gallon, it will make 1000 gallons, so it's cheap. There are tons of other sterilizing products, even some that have the same mechanism as h202, but wont damage the roots. Of course sterilzing agents will also kill beneficial microbes, but since you have root rot I really doubt you are using bennies to begin with.

In the meantime get your res temps below 69f, get as much air as you can pumped through the res. Sterilize your system and you should be fine. If you sterilize and the shit comes right back, you may be dealing with a slightly different problem, brown slime algae, but fortunately it doesn't look like thats the case from the pic.

Rememebr in a DWC it is 1000 times easier to prevent root problems than it is to cure them.

thanks alot for the info dude. the stuff is slimey so i had a feeling it was the brown slime algea. i know there is no light getting in but tonight when lights come on i will sterilize everything and add some h202 for now and still plan to get a bottle of the root cleaning stuff you mentioned. what is best way to clean the roots? spray them with the hose from the sink? i will also moniter res temps, gotta get a small therm.

peace dude thanks again
