PC Grow Buy?

Hey everyone,

I'm new to this part of the forum (more so stay in the concentrate section) and I was looking at people's micro grow and their PC grows. They look pretty damn awesome and look like a good way to get my feet wet in the grow art. I was looking online for some units for sale because I really don't know much about this stuff, so I figured maybe buying a unit built would be a better alternative? What are your thoughts about this units? I more so need it to be smell proof more than eye proof if that makes sense but I figured with the PC it'd be a start. Any tips or anything would be greatly appreciated! Thanks everyone! Hell if anyone would be willing to build one for a good price I'm willing to hear it too! Thanks again!

Man them boxes i cant see how ur gonna grow shit in that box.
Its too smalll u need to veg some and also ur gonna have to get autos cus some only grow about 6-10 inches. Not much yeild.

Neither has a air filter so it is gonna smell. I went with a 2x2x5' Secret Jardin tent and am happy I did. I liked the look of the grow box or pc case myself, but not worth the money and the pc has so little room inside. You will get about a third of the total light those cfls put out, no reflector. They require a good reflector and should be no further than 1 or 2 inches from the plant, at least in flower and depending in veg too.

Small inline fan, charcoal filter, lights of your choice, potting soil, nutes or amendments like bone meal and ewc.

I was thinking I would need auto's as well. I thought most people doing the PC build were using ones that measured to this size roughly? I know the yield wouldn't be much but I figured with a first grow type of deal it would be a good starter. I've seen some pretty damn nice PC builds here lol.

Never heard of a Secret Jardin tent.. I'll look that up, is that smell proof? You guys are making sense though, a couple of more hundred and I can get a bigger unit like this one :

The PC stealth grow box / 5x CFL / 100% stealth looks great, but you will need some shelves or somthing to keep the plants close to the lights

In micro setups you need the plants 1-2 below the lights as this slows the vertcal growth and encourages the plant to grow short and bushy

Yea the tent is smell proof as long as the fan is running into a filter. Without that it starts smelling. You have to rinse the air continuous to keep the odor down. I have seen someone get a oz. out of a pc using homemade LED light, 40 watts or so.

With my tent you could get 8 oz if you used scrog type measures with good yielding strain. I grow all kinds of stuff from seed and do not scrog so my yield is no better than 5 oz and usually less.

Ona gel is supposed to keep smells down ok, never used it. Very cheap.

I gotta agree with Harry on this one, It's better to make you're own. It's not hard and if you like to tinker with stuff, you'll love the pc grow, or just buy a cabinet from your local hardware store. Cab's are cheaper than pc's and you'll have more room. The PC with the LED's are too short, as well you don't know what kind of LED's you're buying and they've been known to bleach plants. As far as smell goes there are DIY air filters. The bottom line is, no matter what you're housing your plants in, you're going to have to tweek and experiment. It's part of the deal brother.

@Harry1690 Yours looks pretty damn epic man, I feel you about making my own being cheaper but damn it looks hard..

@DankTankerous The Cabinet is too big unfortunately. I've seen a few setups and they look pretty damn cool. The PC would be nice because I can hide it easily, looks very simple and seemed like a good starter.

Perhaps I can give it a try but I really don't know how it's gonna turn out and if it fails, would of been cheaper to buy one :-/

Sure, it's a risk you have to be willing to take. I've seen a number of good pc grows and it can be done. LST'ing is going to be you're best friend and you'd have to find a deep but long pot as well as a tall pc tower atleast 20 inches. If you plan it carefully, and I mean carefully, you can do it for less than 200 easily. If you're in the states or North America, check out Craigslist, thrift stores, pawn shops, and ebay for towers. It may seem daunting but it's really not, just little bit by little bit. Look up some seeds that are short and bushy. Northern Lights and Blue Mystics (I know for sure Blue Mystic) are known to have little smell. It can be done you just need some creativity, and ingenuity. It was in my price range and looks pretty stealthy. Bigger than the PC tower too which is a nice perk. Hope it comes in soon! I'll take pics when everything comes. @DankTankerous I have 5 northern lights seeds so hopefully I'll try with that at first. Then maybe get some autoflower seeds if I can. Anyways, I will try to keep everyone (and this thread) up to date! Hopefully I can get something going :)

That's pretty sick man, Congrats. Had I known about that i probably would have bought it. My suggestion to you though is to grow one plant in there. But sweet man I look forward to what you grow in there man.
