Im living in a egypt currently and i can not find vermiculite or perlite for the life of me, could i use peanut shells that have been washed of salts to help with drainage.

No it dosent, where did you come up with that info ?styro foam has chemicals on it i thought. . .
I came up with that info on here when i left a thread asking if i could use styro foam pieces instead of perlite. and thats what i was told.No it dosent, where did you come up with that info ?
Remember, millions of people every day drink from styrofoam cups.
Not to be a smart ass but ask yourself this, have you had any one legged 3 eye'd kids after drinking out of styrafoam cups your whole life.so is styrofome ok or not?
I think somebody was pullin your leg, theres nothing wrong with styrafoam, granted its not as good as perlite due to a weaker density & poor pouroisity but its not poisonous.I came up with that info on here when i left a thread asking if i could use styro foam pieces instead of perlite. and thats what i was told.
Your bullie has an awesome head.styrofoam has a half life of something in the hundreds of years meaning it doesn't break down naturally, the only way to release the chemicals in stryofoam is to burn it. so in water and soil it is safe.
