okay so i have 2 plants that i want decent yield from. after reading that if you water them to much they can starve from not having enough oxygen and can slow down in growth i water them every morning with about 1 litre between them but spraying them a few times each day. and after having plants be4 they seem to be going a bit slow but putting in mind my seeds are pretty crap and are about a year and a bit old i have got a 400 watt HPS light on them for 12 hours a day is this enough they sprouted on wednesday but i did swap them in diff pots so maybe they got a little stressed and slowed down from that just tell me what you think heres a pic thanks..

and also its becomming summer here and the shed gets pretty hot from the sun and the light can this be bad for the plant? i do have a fan on it and try open up the door when im there but thats not to much and im talking about 30+ degrees shed would get way hotter then that

unless you know those feminized seeds, you are going to want to separate them in about a week. one plant per container

hps is wrong light spectrum for veg. you need cold cfls or a metal halide lamp. id recommend getting some fresh seeds too - there are some pretty crazy strains these days. those sprouts look fine.

feminized seeds are 99% to have female genetics. if one of those seeds ends up being a male, you will have to kill it. thus leaving the dead roots in the pot. they will also become roots tangled and intertwined. So removing it later is not a very good option

unless you are planning to flower them from seed, you will want to give them at least 18 hrs of light. you don't need a diff light, hps will work. but as stated above it will veg better will a blue spectrum of light. It is not required though.

yeah first off ur watering them to much lift the pot when its wet and when its dry weed likes to get wet then get dry real quick second ur suppost to have the light on for atleast 18 hours for veging since u alreaddy have hps for flowering go get some cfls 6500 daylight spectum for vegg and use those for a month then swith the lights back to the hps and drop the light schedual back down to 12-12 thay cant be in the same pot cause they will trry to strangle eachother so the weaker one pick out and keep the one thats better and thats just for starters

okay so ill put them in diff pots tomorrow and i carnt get good seeds since im from australia

how long does veg go for and is it to late to change the lighting times. how much faster will growth be? thanks for the info guys

like i said ve for a month with 6500k daylight cfls itll speed up dramatically and get ur self like 4 or 5 26 watt cfls

cfls are verry cheap at most cfls should be like 10 bucks for 5 of em or some shit and a couple addapters like 50 cents each

then you shouldnt even be growing u needf nutes for ve and flower the proper lighting and ventalation if u cant spend the money you should be growing....

I was over watering on my first grow..really stunted the plant...On my second grow now which I started in a party cup...I saturated the soil then put in the germinated seed....

After that I only watered that cup twice in two and 1/2 weeks....I just made sure the whole medium was moist when I did it...

the plants are so tiny they will not take up much water...no need to water them every day....

Ive been vegging with HPS for years and my plants look just as good as any MH veg,you use enhanced bulbs like hortilux and they veg as good or better than any MH..Fluros he damn sure dont need unless hes broke
