Perlite at the bottom of your pots to improve drainage?

no clue

I was reading the thread about mulching and this came up. I'm sure it has been discussed but how about it RUI growers? Do you put an inch or so of perlite in the bottom?

I mix my coco with around 20% perlite.

I used to put hydroton clay pebbles in the bottoms of my pots but now I don't bother.

Not sure about at the bottom, but mixed in. It helps drainage within the soil and also helps to aerate the soil a bit to keep it from compacting.

i tried pebbles on bottom for drainage read the same thing but seen no noticeable differance so i stopped pain in the ass seperating pebbles at end of grow.

Adding a layer at the bottom never hurt but i feel like its unnecessary if your actual mix already has a good percent of perlite in it. Id say its just preferance.

IMO the inch of perlite is to prevent reabsorbtion from the drip pan, perlite holds no water where soil/media will
