Holds up big plants better than the others. Plus it's cheaper and you can find it at any of the home centers etc.

The drawback is having to wash it when you get it and filter out the sand and little stuff. The only stuff you want is the bigger chunks that are hydroton sized or similar.

yeha you gotta wash hydroton pretty good too unless you want all kinds of sediment in your res.

i was thinking of going with hydroton and perlite in the same with the perlite to fill in the smaller crevices and hold it up better than normal
